R.I.P Simon Insole, you were a credit to the force and the huge respect you showed to supporters went beyond what was expected of you. You will be forever remembered by those who knew/met you and will be missed greatly.

Its difficult to put in words how shocked I was to hear this news last night, Simon was well respected by the huge majority of Cardiff and Wales fans for his approach to football fans, especially when things were rough...he saved more than a few from beatings and arrests over the years, many of the fans not even realising it.

He had to finish last year when the police cuts came out, I think he served nearly 30 years in the force, he worked away this last twelve months working on the security for the London games, but recently started back at Cardiff City working with the stewarding and security of the stadium, he was seen as a massive asset to that department no doubt with his vast experience and will be sadly missed by people at our club.

Condolences to his family and may he rest in peace

Goodbye mate

RIP Simon, he saved my bacon a few times in the past. One thing is for sure is that if all the police was like Simon then there wouldn't be so much anti-Police mentality in this country!!! :ayatollah:

shocked by the news, always respected the man as a true City fan, and as I wrote in my chapter:

"Met Simon on several occasions, a true gentleman with a great sense of humour and the most respectable policemen I have come across. If they all would be like him. Fair and open minded, not that he wouldn’t nick anyone who’s crossing the line, but he is fair and treats everyone with respect and doesn’t try to stitch one up. And looking back at Bournemouth (note: when it kicked off with West Ham) that night, he’s pretty game as well. When West Ham attacked he drew his batton and joined in side by side with us, as if he wanted to say “I am Cardiff, too...”.
Dunno who “awarded” him the tiny “Stone Island - Cardiff on tour” badge (which he still wears at games), but he is certainly one of us: a 100% Cardiff fan!"

my deepest condolences to Simon's family, he will be sorely missed by us all. Can't believe he wont be there anymore...

Still in shock over this. He was actually 49.

I will always remember @ Leicester in the play -off semi a few Leicester fans wanted to start something after the game, he came over and announced to them that if they started something they were going to get hammered (not by him but City fans!). They soon made a sharp exit.

RIP big man.
