Fri Sep 07, 2012 2:07 pm
STUNNED..........
Genuinely stunned and very upset. A really nice man. A genuine man. An honest enough (;-) ) copper. Massively respected and will proved to have had the love of all those who knew him.
Helped me out from outposts such as Gillingham, Chesterfield and Belgarade! Top man.
I am gutted.
Fri Sep 07, 2012 2:16 pm
RIP Fellow Bluebird , so sad
Fri Sep 07, 2012 2:20 pm
Still can't get over this, such a shock and is always happy whether I see him home or away, seen him last on sunday in fact.
Actually goes to show that nobody knows what's round the corner.
RIP big man

When I heard, this morning, of the death of Simon Insole I was extremely shocked.
I always found Simon to be a wonderful advertisement for his profession. He had the knack of employing just the correct amount of carrot and stick depending on each situation. He was sympathetic to the plight of football fans, and Cardiff City fans in particular.
When I found out that he was taking up a position with the safety and security operations at the London Olympics I readily congratulated him and said I looked forward to his return to Cardiff City afterwards. Sadly that never fully happened.
The family's loss is our loss too. Simon we already miss you greatly.
To Simon's wife and children, be assured you are in my prayers.
With my sincerest sympathy,
Steve.

David Ferguson I remember he used to find us in random pubs in the middle of nowhere. We would be sitting there having a few sherberts in places you would never find twice. Out of the blue potato head would pop his head through the door and say hello lads with a big grin on his face. He was a nice bloke. Snowys cousin too so show some respect and save your insults for another day. He might have nicked a few lads but he also stopped a lot getting nicked by other police forces. I remember a cold wet midweek in Sunderland for instance.

Luke Prados I can't say I have the pleasure of recalling meeting Simon, but from what I've heard from people very close to me, he was a top bloke. I can only wish his family both privacy and the mental strength to deal with this.

Big shock that - what a great man he was , an example of how a copper should be !
RIP Big man who held the greatest respect to everyone and a fine example of a decent Human Being.
I remember when the Riddler called him in on me - he came to the office sat down and said
" Steve we have an issue "
" What's that Mr Insole ? "
" that asshole Ridsdale has lodged a complaint sorry I'm late but we've just been pissing ourselves down the station "
" what now "
" you will have to apologise and shake hands - when you do count how fingers you have left "
So sad so so sad another legend has gone upstairs
