Got on both today, also had a small bet on three sets in the Muguruza game. Thought Djokovic would beat Raonic a lot easier.

Roathie, when do you think it's best to lay off my bet on Halep? And how do you see the rest of the slam going now you've (presumably) had a look at how people are playing?

I can see Halep getting to the final so hold fire on that. Halep v Sharapova final for me. And Sharapova probably edging it.

As for the men - novak or rafa for me. Gulbis looking incredible though so the men are pretty hard to predict.

10/1 on Halep pre tournament so hopefully she wins it!

Errani loses without hitting the lay off point. Surprising one. £100 loss
Murray beats Monfils £30 profit.

Total quarter final profit - £50

£25 Round 2 profit
£140 Round 3 profit
£70 Round 4 profit
£50 quarter final profit

£363 total profit.

Will post the semi final picks a bit later.

Haelp to beat Petkovic at 1.2 - dont lay off, odds too low.
Nadal to beat Murray at 1.15 - dont lay off - same reason.

Semis are a bit rubbish in terms of betting im afraid.

Halep wins £20 profit.

Halep v Sharapova final.

Anyone who took my tip of Halep at 14-1 to win the tournament then id think about laying off now.

For those that arent familiar with laying off then you can do many things.

If you put £100 on at 14-1 then your profit would be £1400 (£1500 returns).

1) You can eradicate any potential loss by putting £175 on Sharapova at 4/7 to win £100 (£275 returns). So no loss and no profit if Sharapova wins but £1225 if Halep wins

2) you can "even out" and place £900 on Sharapova and whatever happens you will get roughly £500 profit no matter who wins, just crack open a beer and watch the match safe in the knowledge you win whatever happens.

3) you can switch players while getting your initial stake back. Do this by placing £1400 (potential Halep profit) on Sharapova and you will get your stake back if Halep wins and get £800 profit if Sharapova wins.

4) or finally you can leave it run and be happy you have 14/1 on a 11/8 shot.

Nadal beats Murray £15 profit.

£78 Round 1 profit
£25 Round 2 profit
£140 Round 3 profit
£70 Round 4 profit
£50 quarter final profit
£35 semi final profit.

£398 total profit

Will mull over my final picks - they are tough.

Nadel is the king of the clay.

Re: New bookie - New thread - French Open 2014

Im not convinced either way to be honest, he has been very shaky on clay of late (for him). Although he has been superb this tournament so far. The odds seem about right for me. I guess the odds will react more to Nadal going ahead than djokovic so will pick Nadal on that basis.

as for the Women - again could go either way. As i said on page 1 of this thread, i can see Halep going far but not sure if she is ready to take that final step, on that basis i will tip Sharapova.

I will also tip the womens and mens doubles finals too.

Nadal to beat Djokovic at 1.85 and lay off at 1.4.

Back Sharapova at 1.7 and lay off at 1.4

Back errani/vinci at 1.55 and lay off at 1.25

Back granollers/lopez at 1.6 and lay off at 1.35

* if anyone is reading this and wanting to put it into an accy - DONT. This is for lay off purposes only.

One of the great womens finals. 3 incredibly close sets.

Sharapova beats Halep 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 - £30 profit.

Lay off point hit in the very first game with the mens doubles, thats the kind of match i like. Free bet.

Our mens doubles lost but the lay off pointhad been hit - no loss.

Our ladies doubles just underway and again the lay off point hit after the very first game with a break of serve. Free bet.

Ladies doubles lost aswell as the mens, both in straight sets but both hit the lay off. Shocking picks on reflection and got lucky in the end to not lose anything. Errani and vinci are usually so good.

Ah well.

Just Nadal left to conclude the thread. :thumbright:

Sorted my bank out and now I am able to bet again. Will be following your tips for Wimbledon and 10% of profit will go to charity. Can you lay off using Bet365 or is betfair the only option?
