BOOKIES: EARLY ODDS

Postby Sven » Fri May 06, 2016 5:10 pm

Cardiff City legend Craig Bellamy has been installed as the early bookies' favourite for the Bluebirds job after Russell Slade was moved to a new head of football role.

The club now begin the hunt for a young and ambitious coach to take charge of the first team, with Bellamy being priced at 4/1 in the opening betting.

Scott Young who is part of Slade's coaching set-up is second favourite at 6/1, with former Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson third at 8/1 with BetVictor.

The man who currently holds the title of head coach, Paul Trollope, is 10/1.

Others on the early list, which is not based on any significant patterns of betting, include Neil Lennon (16/1), Tim Sherwood (16/1) and former Newport County boss Justin Edinburgh (16/1).

It is unclear how long it will take Cardiff to appoint a new head coach but we understand the man they want will be young, ambitious and in touch with modern football. They are however keen for the new man to have some experience, which would appear to rule Bellamy out.

Think we go with the Watford approach and hire a foreign manager that's done well in a good league and can work under a head of football. :ayatollah:
On 13th December 2016 one man stood up to be counted against a pack of Wolves his name was Kenneth Zohore.

Not surprised he's favourite, with us keeping Slade, wouldn't be my choice, but it would certainly be an interesting appointment !!!

Well all I can say is that these particular bookies must be pissed if they think Scott Young would be the next manager here.

Neil Ardley or Justin Edinburgh; the latter being ideal candidate for the role

Young should be no where near managing a football league team . No room for sentiment.

After what happened with OGS, I very much doubt we'll have a former Man Utd player accept a manager role with us any time soon. Plus, Giggs would command a huge salary that we would simply not even entertain at this point.

Please do not let it be Scott Young. Not even good enough for Port Talbot or Porth F.C.

Bit of an outside suggestion, but would anyone take Mark Sampson, England women's manager?

For some strange reason, Craig Bellamy is now 8/13.

Probably a case of people putting money on it because of the name, as I would be surprised if Bellamy gets it.
