Craig Bellamy odds on favourite for Oxford United job

1/5

I reckon this is the perfect club for Bellers to start his management career :thumbright: :thumbright:

He came within touching distance of landing the Wales job before being pipped by Ryan Giggs.

But it seems Craig Bellamy is edging closer to his first job in first team management.

Bookies have slashed the odds on the Welshman becoming Oxford United’s next manager.

He’s as short as 1/5 to take up the vacancy.

Only a matter of time now, surely?

“Oxford have been without a manager for a month now, and have lost five of the six games since, causing nervous fans to demand a decision is made over the vacant role.
“Bellamy’s playing career was never short of passion, and Oxford will be hoping he can jolt them out of their current stupor.”

Good luck to Craig, if he gets it and feels it's good for his progression :thumbright:

Equally, I'll be happy if he stays with the Bluebirds to continue his learning under the tutelage of Neil Warnock and his team

I see Craig having a crack at management with City one day and any development can only be good :ayatollah:

I want Bells to do well Chris :thumbright: :bluebird:

But at the moment he is rarely involved in anything anymore regarding City.

Nothing at all to do with DVP and calls in now and again on Academy, so not really learning anything.

His business interests and tv commitments take up the majority of his time.

Really? Thanks, Annis but that surprised me

I genuinely thought he was being groomed to take over at the helm one day. Does he still have good relations with the owner? :ayatollah:

About 18months ago it was suppose to be like that, but nothing really developed Chris.

I wonder if he will stick with it, didn't hang around the city development squad long and it felt like he was always changing clubs as a player.

Luke, I see your point there and it appears (on face value) that whilst he was rated as a player, he wasn't so easy to manage. We know Craig says it how he sees it, so maybe his honesty (or personal view) in certain situations didn't help?

I always rated him as a player and enjoy him as a TV pundit, which gives me the impression he'd do we if he was in charge

I guess time will tell and I wish him good luck. We'll soon know if he means business if he puts the old golf clubs in the boot as he leaves! ;) :laughing6:

“ Ken Choo speaks about Bellamy’s potential Oxford job “

BBC

Wednesday 21st February 2018

Bellamy is highly rated as a coach at Cardiff, with first-team manager Neil Warnock praising the former Wales captain.

The Bluebirds recognise Bellamy's managerial potential, and have given him permission to speak to Oxford.

"We want to facilitate Craig's opportunities to get experience," Cardiff chief executive Ken Choo told BBC Sport Wales.

"This could be a good move for his career."
