" HIGH FIVES FOR CITY "

Sat Jan 19, 2013 8:34 pm

Many managers look at groups of games in sets of five, and the hope is to achieve 2 points on average from each game.

We have completed 5 full sets of 5 games and we have collected 10 or more points in 4 of those sets, only in the 3rd set did we not meet the target and achieved just 6 points.

Looking at the fixtures as a whole, the best run we have had without losing is 6 games and we have achieved that feat twice already this season and the run we are currently on is one of those runs, so avoid defeat against Leeds in a fortnight and we will be on our best run of results of the campaign.

It's runs like these that are the reason teams get promoted.

That's the key beating our rivals.

With both promotion and relegation it is often a case that if a team beats its rivals it will go up / avoid relegation. That's why it is better for us to lose points against Ipswich and Peterborough and take them off Leicester and hull.

Carl, yesterday I was bored I looked at results and saw we'd win 2 or 3 and then draw or lose then once we got back to winning we'd win 3 or 4 again so could see a pattern emerge. Weird that you've created this thread today now. At least now I know it wasn't just me over thinking things in too fine a detail.

The boys are doing great but I also think Lady Luck is looking down on us this year... Que rage!
Blackpool , new manager and lost 3 of their regular back 4 today .
Don't get me wrong the competition within our squad is immense and can't fault Malky .We do appear to be playing teams like Leicester, Millwall , Blackpool at the right time.

Another comment I agree with, we have had quite a bit of luck with regards to other teams and results.

Allan I am not taking anything away from our achievements so far this season, I am agreeing that I believe we have had some luck go our way too but that has happened to other clubs who have been promoted before as well.

I am not saying we are lucky to be top, far from it.

We are top because we deserve to be :ayatollah:

I'm not having a go Allan , we can only beat what's in front of us .
I questioned the size of our squad at the beginning of the season and whether Malky could keep everyone happy . But I can now admit that he's done a fine job . Like you say the league table doesn't lie but I believe we have played teams at the right time . You add Brum to my recent list when they struggled to put out a team through injury and suspensions .

Agreed, but don't forget we were without our 2 main centre halfs today ;) plus our talisman, Bellamy.

Brilliant season by Malky and the team so far but nothing is achieved at this stage of the season .The way the team has battled this season is superb and as a fan all we want to see is 100% from each player and so far its brilliant.

I just hope we can keep it all going and I think we will. :ayatollah:

Re: " HIGH FIVES FOR CITY "

Should target 10 points per month now,

10 in Feb (from 6 tough games) and 10 in Mar (from 5 rather less difficult ones IMHO) will give us 80 with 7 games to go.

I reckon83/84 will be enough.

Re: " HIGH FIVES FOR CITY "

Sun Jan 20, 2013 7:15 pm

Basically, we followed a hot streak of 4 wins and 1 defeat with an awful
run of 3 defeats and 2 wins. This was the period when the forum experts were
calling the manager inept, not good enough, in over his head. Since that
shockingly disgusting month :o .... Cardiff City have won 10 drawn 2 and lost 1.

Our competitors in this Division must be dreading us having another bad month

...and our very own negative miserable 'fans' are running out of things to pick on. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
