' The current situation '

Mon Sep 22, 2014 6:13 pm

Cardiff City have made 3 approaches for Russell Slade, the first two was through his agent and the final approach has been made to Leyton Orient seeking permission to talk to Russell Slade.

If Slade is appointed he will bring with him his assistant at Orient, former Cardiff striker, Kevin Nugent.

Dave Jones has been spoken to about the advisory role but has told Tan Sri Vincent Tan that he would be keen to return as manager.

Tan Sri will get his man, he has mind set on it and expects to have it concluded before Saturday's fixture versus Sheffield Wednesday.

As I stated last night, Scott Young and Danny Gabbidon will manage tomorrow's fixture, and they will both remain coaches under the new management team.

Today's training session was coached by five members of the academy coaching staff, including James McCarthy and Mark Cahill.

The coaches are surprised at the fitness levels of the squad, they are nowhere near what they should be.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had planned a press conference after leaving the club and had told media to gather, which was to take place in Norway but Tan Sri Vincent spoke with the former manager requesting he does not go ahead with his press conference, it has now been cancelled.

That is all well and good and do you know about this supposed Ravel Morrison loan?

Most of them have not looked fit from day 1 of the season.........whoever the fitness and conditioning coach, and Ole of course must take the blame for this. Shocking at this level.

Absolutely right.
Further proof how ole was completely lacking & was obvious in every match I saw under him.

I agree there, our players have continually looked tired after 60 minutes of a game.
I am shocked by all this, as Ole had about 6 back room staff all his own from physio's to coaches costing us a fortune, Tan should also take responsibility for not having someone over seeing all this money spent to no avail.

If that is the case why aren't we appointing Paul Hartley by Saturday?

If we win tomorrow and Saturday I recon Scott and Gabs will get a chance. What about Slade as DoF ;)

Players shockingly unfit, that's clear for all to see.

Leyton Orient
Club statement regarding Russell Slade

Mon 22nd Sept 2014

On Friday morning we were contacted by a lawyer close to Cardiff City and Russell Slade, who asked us to give permission for Cardiff to talk to Russell. That evening Russell asked the club for permission to talk to Cardiff. On Saturday the general manager of Cardiff approached us in order to again ask permission to talk to Russell. In all cases, we denied Cardiff the permission and we did not authorise Russell to talk to Cardiff.

The problem I see with slade is that the players will prob think, who the hell are you!

Re: ' The current situation '

I dot know if he is a wind up but I do enjoy reading these so called updates

Re: ' The current situation '

Mon Sep 22, 2014 7:30 pm

What set alarm bells ringing for me was Ole's last post-match interview, when he seemed surprised that the general plan was to whack the ball up to KJ and hope. The manager shouldn't be surprised. Either he told them to do exactly that or they disobeyed his instructions.

This just showed that he didn't really have his finger on the pulse. I'm not going to just slag him off here because he no doubt tried hard and is a descent bloke, but this just put the tin hat on it for me.

The fithese levels of the players are partly to do with the players themselves. They are highly paid professional athletes and personal pride should make them want to train to a high level of fitness, whatever the circumstances.

Let's hope something more structured and rigorous comes in soon.
