REPORTS: WARNOCK ALREADY TOP OF THE LIST!

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock emerges as surprise favourite for Sunderland job
Jordan Jones

Daily Express

Sunday 28th May 2017

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has been linked with the managerial vacancy at relegated Premier League side Sunderland.

According to the Daily Express, the 68-year old is the early favourite for the Sunderland hot seat after David Moyes left the job last week after a disastrous season in charge.

Sunderland, who will be playing in the second tier for the first time in a decade believe that Warnock’s experience in the league could help them in returning to the top flight quickly.

Former Bristol City manager Derek McInnes, who lost the Scottish Cup final today with Aberdeen is also part of Sunderland’s wish list should Warnock knock them back.

The Yorkshireman helped guide Cardiff to a top half finish after being appointed back in September following the sacking of Paul Trollope, where the club looked doomed before Warnock’s arrival.

It is unlikely that Warnock would make the move to the North-East given his good working relationship with the Cardiff City hierarchy and a number of the key players in the current group.

The veteran boss agreed to prolong his stay in South Wales capital this season following positive talks with those above him.

The one sentence sums it up for me and I don't personally believe the report has any legs in it but it's out there in the mainstream, so we post it here for members perusal... ;) :ayatollah:

Next Sunderland manager odds: Who will replace David Moyes?
By Michael Potts

Derek McInnes - 1/2

Nigel Clough - 3/1
Kevin Phillips - 14/1
Garry Monk - 16/1
Stefan Schwarz - 16/1
Nigel Pearson - 16/1
Slavisa Jokanovic - 16/1
Aitor Karanka - 18/1
Ryan Giggs - 20/1

Alan Pardew has ruled himself out of the running to become the next Sunderland manager.

The former Newcastle boss is looking for work after leaving Crystal Palace in December and cited the Tyne-Wear rivalry as the reason for his lack of interest in the job.

Derek McInnes is still the favourite to replace David Moyes but several key contenders could be in with a chance of landing the role

Based on what ?, Sunderland had been a PL Club for 9 years, have never played below the old 3rd Division , average gates of over 40,000 with a loyal fan base and in the last 50 years their lowest gate was 15,000 and not forgetting winners of the FA Cup twice . A Big club with the ability to bounce straight back up imo so why wouldn't Warnock go there.?

Big club but with no money being spent on it hence the gradual decline to championship! And will lose players now aswell so not a good bet to bounce strait back up as been case for other clubs relegated previously. And poster is right about Warnock he will not break his promise to ccfc for a club in decline compared to his ambitions for us. :old:

The trouble with having a successful manager is that he will be on the radar for others.

Didn't see anyone sniffing around for Slade!!

This won't happen in my opinion. The bigger crowds, the PL recent history, fair enough, but big club? Not really.
Would he rather be in The Capital of Wales or the back end of beyond??

He's made certain promises to the club and, I think, to himself. He hasn't finished the job yet. And when e does, he'll be managing a PL side anyway.

Let's just all calm down a bit shall we? :notworthy: (Not the correct emoji but there you go)

You do know that they spent since 2011 73 million on players the 9th highest in the PL , their problem has been the quality of the spend but also the quality of the managers employed ,Moyes was a fair lower league manager when he fell lucky with Everton who continued to bumble along ,then Man Utd well we all know what happened there .Time will tell if he stays or goes but Warnock like most likes to spend other peoples money ,something which hasn't been lacking a Sunderland

That equates to around 15m per season including this season? Most pundits think they will struggle in championship with Boro most likely to return at 1st attempt!

Warnock has previously stated that his handshake is his word. So as long as Tan keeps to his word I expect him to be our manager next season. And besides Sunderland couldn't be further from Cornwall.
Warnock is a man of his word so calm down lads  :bluebird: :bluescarf:

Karl, you'd be stealing his money! LOL :laughing6:

Neil Warnock has said he will be Cardiff City FC manager for next season and this is a bit of a non-story; only 'put out there' because it was in the Press. The Sunderland statement "We'll take out time", the 'bookies' odds (with Warnock nowhere to be seen with most) and Warnock's words and integrity scream out that he will be here and not there! :ayatollah:
