Walsall away, he dived the wrong way (as always) but they smashed the bar.

They still scored from the rebound though. :banghead:

Fantastic save at ashton gate in play offs, kept us in the game and onwards to the millenium final.

He saved one against Bournemouth in the Carling Cup, the night West Ham turned up, was a class trip that one.

Yeah, that’s the nearest I ever saw Alexander save a pen.
Great away day that was, early in our first season back in the championship. Think Whalley equalised with the last kick of the game. Mental scenes in away end. Merson was player manager for Walsall. He had loads of stick, but took it really well.

Good keeper, Andy Dibble best keeper i saw down the city, thought he was going on to greatness, but did'nt happen. Alway's had a soft spot for Ron Healey

I was there too. Merson was brilliant laughing along with all the shit some people were throwing at him. He was actually laughing. Good old Merse.
