Would be mad to pay out to a club who are not entitled to it. I'm sure if it was the opposite way around, Nantes would be taking the same sort of approach.

It now looks amateurish on our part. Why couldn't we wait until everything was properly signed before releasing the photo?
As for Sala memorabilia, it'll make us look small time if any is seen on TV after what is now happening.

Exactly, and if it's found that his contract is invalid it should be the end of our association with Sala. It would be cringe worthy and frankly embarrassing were we to hold a minutes silence or applause in a years time, especially if we are arguing he's not our player!

If we knew there were issues why did we photograph him holding a shirt?
Surely that will go against us if it goes to court as it implies we knew he was our player.

Surely our insurance company would refuse to pay out as he was not our player.
Well done to the club for keeping this discreet during the past month and hopefully the press and Daily Mail will issue an apology.
Cardiff City Insurers would only pick up the risk for a player whilst he is a registered player, he wasn't so the risk is with the insurers of Nantes.
I'm certain Cardiff City knew there was "Issues" with the documentation supplied to the FIFA TMS database, but I absolutely believe that Nantes were as well and those crass bastards were on the phone straight away demanding the money.

The board would be muppets if they thought wording on a fans flag took priority over the wording of a contract The contract was invalid because the PL/FA found flaws which needed addressing and a new contract needed to be drafted. Contracts are not binding until all sides agree to the T&C's and one party to the contract (the PL/FA) had not signed up.
Whether you like it or not ES was not our player at the time of his death and therefore Nantes are responsible for claiming on their liability insurance.
