January Transfer Thread 2013!

Wed Jan 02, 2013 12:55 pm

Hi Guys,

Just thought I would make a transfer thread for the January transfer window, please feel free to post ANY football transfer related topics in here, might help us keep up to date with what appears to be a very busy window.

Also, any strong rumours/gossip from any teams in the English Pyramid.

I will start with: -

Josh King - Blackburn - Permanent deal - Great signing for them.

Jay Bothroyd has returned to QPR following expiry of loan with Sheffield Wednesday.

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news ... -Wednesday

Do you think he will be loaned back out or do you think he is part of Harry's plans? :ayatollah:

I would love to have DJ Campbell down here, he certainly knows where the net is... Harry if you're reading, a loan deal until the end of the season would be ideal thanks. :ayatollah:

If Mackay is so thorough in all that he does and intends to add to his squad this January window,he would surly have the names of his intended targets, their availability and fee, neatly typed out in one of his dossiers, that being the case we the fans should expect these deals to be completed sooner than later, and not wait until the last day,the last hour of the window being open for us to sign these players...this all supposes that Mackay does intend to add to his squad of course

It's not down to Malky WHEN the signings happen, some teams need to ensure they can replace the players they are letting go before they let the player go. Surely you understand that? :ayatollah:

NUFC have given Demba Ba permission to speak to Chelsea. As a result he won't be included in tonight's squad.

Do you think this will trigger everything off. Every transfer window has one signing that kick-starts everything, is this the one? :ayatollah:

I'd be happier if they took Tom Ince out of this league.

I think Sturridge is Done deal, I think Chelsea were just waiting on the Demba Ba acceptance. Now they have that they are good to go. I think this signing will trigger a lot of other signings. :ayatollah:

Newcastle will never achieve anything if they keep selling assets when doing well. If they keep these players and win trophies then maybe players like ba would see a nice to Chelsea as a step across and not up and stay at Newcastle.

In all fairness, there was very little they could do... the player wanted to leave and Chelsea matched the buy-out clause in his contract. It's not like they accepted the bid... They had no choice. But otherwise your point is very valid. :ayatollah:

Got a feeling this could be a very interesting window all round.

This David Vaughan rumour is certainly growing some legs. Personally (if it is possible) I would much prefer to see Ramsey here than Vaughan. :ayatollah:

Hate Liverpool, but that's a cracking piece of business

I'd say Chelsea got the better part of the deal with that.

Sturridge at a reported 12 sold an replaced with Ba for 7 - great business

I think it's a good deal for both.

Chelsea for the aforementioned reasons and Liverpool are signing a young "rodgers type player" for a decent fee, and with games could be a top, top player. :ayatollah:

I like Sturridge and think he'll do well there - he's not really had a decent look-in at Chelsea. Saying that I hate Liverpool.

Sturridge will score for fun at Liverpool. Wants to play and has taken pay cut to move. He was not content with sitting on the bench which is admirable. Ba is a gamble. Could easily get injured. i think Liverpool got the better end of this bit of business because Ba hasn't been that good since Cisse joined Newcastle. Was he a half a season wonder?

Don't rate Sturridge. He's just another overrated Englishman.

He's been found out since his goalscoring form at Bolton and there's a good reason he didn't get a a game at Chelsea.

Sturridge will fit in well at Liverpool……….average player at an average club. They tried to get Leo as their 1st choice and settted for Sturridge as Leo is on his way back to us. :)

second half of last season I agree about ba but he was pushed out wide when cisse come, this season is the opposite 13 goals for ba proves hes been better than cisse who seems a shadow of himself from last season

I will simply say - IMPERITAVE that we buy players this January. We didn't buy any last January, and this was one of the main reasons we didn't make it last season I think. If the signings are all down to Malky, I would say this was pretty much his one mistake last season, although personally, I would have thought there should be someone in place specifically for the job of buying and selling players.

And the reason is, like last season, not so much, I don't think, that the squad necessarily needs strengthening that badly. A team that is 7 points clear of the top of the league must be pretty good! But these players will tire, and also, if we don't buy players, our rivals will, and that is the primary reason why it's essential, I think. Don't care/know who - just so long as they are half tidy, and players that, if bought by other clubs, would strengthen those teams instead.

Spot on. Leo wants to play for a bigger club in red so he's joining us. :ayatollah:

For fans of spelling - imperative. Ahem.
