The Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan has urged the Premier League to investigate his allegation that Crystal Palace obtained information about their starting line-up for last weekend's relegation showdown by "unethical means".

Cardiff have written to the Premier League's chief executive, Richard Scudamore, complaining that Crystal Palace's sporting director Iain Moody used his contacts at the club to attempt to find out which players would start the match for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side – Moody was given the wrong line-up.

Crystal Palace won the match 3-0 to move seven points clear of the relegation zone and leave Cardiff six points from safety with just five matches remaining.

Tan is currently in litigation with Moody after firing him from his role as head of recruitment in October and Moody is reported to have been refused entry to the directors' box at the City of Cardiff Stadium on Saturday. The Premier League has confirmed that Cardiff have written to Scudamore but they must make a formal complaint to take the matter further.

Moody was hired by Palace in November, weeks after leaving his post at Cardiff when Tan brought in Alisher Apsalyamov, a 23-year-old from Kazakhstan with no previous football experience. He and former manager Malky Mackay were accused of "imprudent and careless management" by Cardiff's chief executive, Simon Lim, in February after spending in excess of £8.5m on Danish striker Andreas Cornelius, who returned to FC Copenhagen in the January transfer window for a cut-price fee.

Don't be blinded by the rebrand issue,if this is right I hope Tan has his guts for garters.

In the meantime ole tells a public forum that Daehli, whitts and Mutch will play in the rest of the premier league games this season
They will get a medel if they can work the rest of the midfield out though.

Annis, I totally agree on the "it's up to us to get results" comments you made and I'm pretty sure 99.9% of teams will "take an advantage" before a game if they possibly can (contacts, Fergie-style psychology, cold showers, etc.)

With regard to the Moody situation, it is still a large amount of speculation, gossip and rumour for the majority of us, but a couple of people a lot closer to the club's hierarchy than me privately claim that "Fans will see Tan has a point" when it comes to the removal of Moody from the club. I have no idea what occurred, but it certainly intrigues me, given that Moody 'appeared' to be doing a good job until the Acorn deal

Nobody is blaming the loss on the fact this happened. Its the fact it happened is unsporting to say the least. If true, I hope the FA take action.

Moody says he spoke to contacts asking about the potential Cardiff lineup - none of whom worked for Cardiff. That sounds pretty legit to me - I really don't think he crossed any line.

Apparently it was a random agent who has no connection with Cardiff who told them the starting lineup and he was wrong... so take it for what you will. Also Pulis came out and said that he wasn't going to change his lineup from the one that beat Chelsea, and he didn't - so Tan can't have too many complaints - Ole knew what was coming for him and he still couldn't get a result.

I don't like the "it wouldn't have changed a thing in the game" notion

Reason being is you're saying if it did happen, that it's okay. If it's okay, then where does the line get drawn?

Just think Sportsmanship should still count for something; but I could be wrong, there's already plenty of simulation in the game to make one question ones own thoughts and feeling about what it means to be honest and sporting.


Of course since Tan brought it up, there's a stigma attached to the accusation; but it's still an accusation that should be looked into regardless. So I'll hold judgement until it's concluded; but it's a little disheartening to see people glossing over the actual issue here and through media outlets.

If it was Ole trying to get info then I would say that hes trying to do a job.

I'm told one of our players is in trouble for telling moody our line up 24 hrs before the game.. We'll see..

This story is laughable. How can someone at City leak our tactics and team selection to Palace days before the game if nobody at City even knows what the tactics and team selection is?

Well that player is not zaha,Ole has been on radio stating as much! And MJ:cheating is cheating,regardless of who is cheating,but from you,your comments tell me you think its ok to cheat!! Note I have used the term many times for you to get the message! My dad taught me that when you cheat,it is only yourself you cheat,as any advantage you gain,your victory will be hollow,as you will know that you had to cheat to gain it?
