You played a lower league team in the cup final.
We played Liverpool.
Fairly sure had Cardiff played Bradford and you had played Liverpool this conversation wouldn't even take place.

Cardiff progressed further in Europe than any other Welsh team when in the 1967/68 season following a three-legged last eight win over Torpedo Moscow, Scholar's side set up a semi-final clash with Hamburg.
West German greats Uwe Seeler and Willi Schulze were in the Hamburg side that Cardiff held 1-1 in the first-leg in front of 70,000 fans at the Volksparkstadion as Norman Dean's goal gave Cardiff hope.
But the brave Bluebirds suffered a cruel defeat in the return leg.
Then this happened.
Brian Clark secured immortal status at Ninian Park when his unforgettable winner beat the great Real Madrid side in Cardiff's finest hour in front of their own fans.
The striker's 31st minute header from teenager Nigel Rees's pin-point cross against the six-times European champions and most famous in the world sent an estimated 50,000 fans into raptures.
Cardiff could have scored more and the South Wales Echo proclaimed: "Whatever happens in Madrid, nobody can take anything away from the players for their wonderful show." Just as well as the Bluebirds lost 2-0 in the return at the Bernabéu.
Then this happened.
SWANSEA City reached the knockout stages of the Europa League despite a disappointing 1-0 defeat at St Gallen.
Half a century ago? And via the welsh cup
Football has moved on. Getting to that stage then and getting to that stage now is vastly different, especially via the english system.

As you know, Liverpool were the holders of the cup and we knocked them out at Anfield. Then we played the European champions over two legs and beat them, before playing the lower league team in the final.
It's really not that difficult to understand. Or are you a bit thick?
We didn't just waltz straight to the final and play Bradford.

We beat Leeds who were top of the premier league at the time in the FA cup. Upsets happen all the time. Its why diddy clubs like swansea have a chance at winning things, especially in the mickey mouse cup. Remember we made the final when we were in the championship.
Just proves how wank a competition it really is.

Upsets do, indeed, happen. In one-off games, especially. However, we beat the European Champions over two legs in the semi-final. So we deserved to be at the final. It's not our fault that Bradford were our opposition.

Well then there we go. Cups are irrelevant.
Good job we are an established mid table premier league side then.

If the cup competitions are irrelevant then lets have a look at the league records then, Swansea won 21 Cardiff won 19 and 16 draws

Cups are everything to the smaller teams. Lets be honest, a mid table prem team is about as good as it gets for you in the league. A good cup run is your only chance at silverware.

When you are self sustainable the opportunities are endless.
We are the most profitable club in the Premier League. We will post a £30m profit this year. A decade of that and we will have £300m in the transfer kitty, a sum that bought the whole man city squad.

Absolutely we are saving to grow as a club. What is deluded about suggesting we can spend our own money?
We were 92nd 11 years ago.... and are now 12th.
To suggest that is the ceiling when we have the ability to stick £30m away a year while spending £25m a year on players at the same time is baffling. That is some serious financial clout.

that we are the most profitable club in the Premier League or that we can spend our own money?
Both are indisputable facts. Its how a club grows.
4 years ago our record signing was 500k.
3 years ago our record signing was 800k
2 years ago our record signing was £3.5m
1 year ago our record signing was £5.55m
This year our record signing is £12.5m
That is growth and self sustainability. Each year we get bigger. Being the most profitable team in the premiership we have the potential to grow our playing staff at a larger rate than most other clubs.
