A forum for all things Cardiff City

Russell Slade is still popular at Leyton Orient but is wanted by Cardiff City Russell Slade has urged Cardiff City not to give up on him as the Bluebirds suffered their biggest embarrassment of the season on the field.
Slade remains the Cardiff board's number one target to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, despite Leyton Orient chiefs refusing to sanction three requests from Cardiff and Slade himself to hold talks.
The Bluebirds remain hopeful of landing their man this week but they will have to come to a compensation agreement with the League One club before he can complete a surprise move to the Welsh capital.
And Slade has revealed his frustration at not being able to join the Bluebirds, who were dumped out of the Capital One Cup courtesy of a 3-0 home defeat against Bournemouth.
He said: “Cardiff’s approach has been turned down. I don’t know if I will be here Saturday or whether Cardiff come back again. Maybe they will move on.”
Asked if he wanted the job, he said: “Everybody wants to better themselves. When you have been in League One for a few years and we came so close in May in getting into the Championship.
“It’s frustrating. Cardiff are a big club and it will be a big job for somebody who eventually ends up with it.”
The need for a new manager was brought into stark focus by the disastrous result in front of just 6,500 supporters, some of who headed for the exit as Cardiff found themselves 3-0 down inside 33 minutes.
The move for Slade, who has never managed above the third tier of English football, has shocked many supporters, and it has now emerged Cardiff’s interest is a direct result of a recommendation from former England coach Glenn Roeder.
Roeder is also understood to be keen on joining the club as director of football, if Vincent Tan decides to go down that route.
Furious interim coach Scott Young admitted he was still in the dark about his own future as he hit out at two of his players.
Javi Guerra and Kim were hauled off inside the first-half after abject displays, and Young said: “We can’t start any game with eight or nine players as we did against Bournemouth. That’s the reason we had to make changes and bring players off.”

I don't think so i think Slade will give the players a good kick up the arse which is needed and young and gabbs are not Manager's yet to inexperienced.

And I would urge Cardiff to give up on him now, forget about this Director of Football nonsense (any examples of that working in this country?), tell Glenn "football man" Roeder to stick his advise up his arse and get in touch with Tony Pulis first thing this morning and beg him to turn our bunch of unfit, unmotivated, overpaid slackers into something that resembles a football team.

' RUSSELL SLADE URGES CARDIFF NOT TO GIVE UP ON HIM '
I wish we would give up on him! and Roeder for that matter. They have to be the two most uninspiring people to ever be associated with this club. We are becoming a joke. 12 months ago we had just beaten Man City at home in the Premier league, now look at us. Fcking knocked out of the cup with most gutless performance we have seen in a long long time.
We have no time for nice guys or good luck stories. Forget Slade and Roeder, they wont achieve fck all at this club. I'm no expert when it comes to football management but I know this much, players need to be motivated, inspired and organized, its same in any business. Lets stop messing about with all this nonsense and install a manager with credibility and experience. Someone the fans and the players can relate to and get excited about. There is a whole host of managers out there that would do well with the squad we have. We all know what Pulis would do great and however unlikely that it is that he will be our next manager he is by far the most credible guy we could appoint. Failing Pulis the likes of Hughton, Clarke, McDermott would all do a good job.
C'mon City, stop messing about and get this total mess sorted out NOW!

this exactly , Glenn Roeder is advising them to get a director of football only so he can get a job back in football, it wont work
