Leyton Orient assistant Kevin Nugent set to join Russell Slade at Cardiff
BY SAM ROURKE ⋅ OCTOBER 8, 2014 ⋅ POST A COMMENT

Leyton Orient caretaker manager Kevin Nugent is set to join up with new Cardiff City manager Russell Slade, according to Sky Sports Journalist Pete O’Rourke.

" Nugent is set to join Slade at Cardiff City "

Wednesday 8th Oct 2014

There was confusion surrounding Nugent and a supposed job offer from Leyton Orient to be the new manager, however Nugent’s future now seems set to lie at Cardiff.

The 45-year-old said to the BBC after Saturday’s 2-1 defeat by Swindon that there were “discussions going on” about the role.

But Leyton Orient sporting director Mauro Milanese insisted the club is “in no rush”.

“We trust Kevin because he coached with Russell Slade and he knows the players better than anyone else,” the Italian told BBC London 94.9.

“He’s got the personality to drive the team.

“We were 100% behind Russell and we were a bit unlucky that Cardiff wanted him. At the moment we’ll stay with Kevin and hope he gets some results.

“We need to keep it more private. I don’t know who said this [that Nugent has been offered the job] and I think sometimes rumours arrive.

I remember that game, wish Gavin Gordon was given the same chances in the first team at the time was some of the others were.

Loved Thommo at left back, quality pro, shame we had him with his injuries, and Bonner was a classy player for that division aswell, alot better than big des who was keeping him out of the team.

But your right it was a terrible game!

I hope so too, as you say.. "Not Good Enough"! I don't really want Gabbidon involved either, he doesn't have a strong enough personality for coaching, nevermind management.
