We got three points and that is what it is all about at the end of the day and Russell Slade has got yet another home win, four wins out of four at home is superb as far as results go.
The first half I thought City shaded it but quite a few sag around me thought it was Reading who had the majority of the play especially in the first 20 minutes.
Even though we were at home I was delighted to see both Pilkington and Noone playing so high up that on times we were effectively playing a 4-2-4 and even though our first goal came from a set piece and it was an own goal, I believed that City were building towards opening the scoring.
Alex Pearce had a nightmare of a first half for Reading, scored the own goal, gave away the penalty and was ultimately sent off for the challenge on Le Fondre for the penalty that Whittingham cooly slotted home on the stroke of half time.
City's first goal was scored seconds before the 19.27 protest and even though it was not the best sea of blue created at the stadium, it was probably the most passionate of this season.
Two highlights were cross field passes tonight, one in each half, the first from Craig Noone out to Le Fondre and just as good was Aron Gunnarsson's pass for John Brayford in the 64th minute that nearly got Brayford his first City goal.
The second half was poor from City in that we didn't take advantage of a team playing with ten men, we tried to dictate the game by playing keep ball and though I could see the game plan, the tempo of the play was too slow.
We lost the second half 1-0 and being honest that concerns me, the warning signs are there and we would be foolish to think we have turned the corner because we haven't just yet.
There are positives, Noone being the main one from tonight's performance, another win at home is a plus point also and I thought Daehli showed his worth to the squad with his cameo role, he was offering himself for the ball, he never gave the ball away, he was tracking back to defend and was playing players in behind the Reading defence.
Noone, who was substituted for Daehli, gave us a runner who would carry the ball from defence and turn it into attack, hopefully that kind if play will help us at Watford and other away grounds this season.
Overall it is a good but probably an expected three points tonight, there are positives to take from the game but there is still work to be done but what we do have is an opportunity to kick on from yet another home win and if we hope to do anything in this league then we must start putting runs of results together sooner rather than later.
