Watford and Brighton interested in Palace midfielder
Tuesday, 25 November 2014

By Richard Cawley
WATFORD and Brighton are both interested in taking Adlene Guedioura on loan.

The Hornets look set to complete a temporary deal for the Algerian international.

But Brighton are also keen on the former Nottingham Forest and Wolves midfielder.

Palace are prepared to let Guedioura leave, provided a significant portion of his wages are met.

He looks set to be the only notable departure before the emergency loan deadline ends on Thursday.

There has also been interest in Barry Bannan. But the Scottish international, who came on in the closing stages of Sunday's 3-1 win over Liverpool, will not be allowed to go.

Noel Hunt is set to join Ipswich Town today, completing a move which could end his difficult spell at Leeds United.

The former Republic of Ireland striker is due in Suffolk this morning to finalise a loan which will keep him at Portman Road until the turn of the year and is likely to become permanent in the January transfer window.

Ipswich, who are fourth in the Championship, made an unexpected bid for Hunt yesterday and expect to seal his temporary arrival before today’s 5pm emergency loan deadline.

Hunt has not played for Leeds since the opening week of the season and last featured in a matchday squad during United’s League Cup first-round win over Accrington Stanley.

The 31-year-old has struggled for form ever since his move from Reading 18 months ago and he has failed to score for Leeds in 22 competitive appearances.

His two-year contract expires next summer and he looks unlikely to play for the club again with his move to Ipswich pending.

Hunt’s brother Stephen is part of the squad at Portman Road and Ipswich are in firm contention for an automatic promotion place after a strong start to the term.

Leeds will travel to Portman Road a week on Saturday, though the terms of Hunt’s loan should prevent him from playing in that match.

Crewe Alexandra sign Nicky Ajose and Uche Ikpeazu on loan

Thursday 27/11/14

Crewe Alexandra have signed two Championship loan strikers before the close of the emergency loan window.
The League One bottom club have signed Leeds United's Nicky Ajose, 23, on a deal lasting 40 days until 5 January.
Crewe have also brought back Uche Ikpeazu, 19, on a two-month loan from Watford until 25 January.
Ikpeazu proved a success when he spent the second half of last season on loan at Gresty Road, scoring four times in 15 appearances to help Crewe stay up.
Crewe close their emergency loan window

The first of this season's emergency loan windows closes at 17:00 GMT on Thursday, 27 November.
He returns to join an Alex side who prop up the rest of the division following a winless six-match run under manager Steve Davis, in which they have scored just two goals.
Former Manchester United trainee Ajose was signed by Dave Hockaday for Leeds from Peterborough United this summer on a three-year deal for a reported £150,000 fee.
But, having scored a combined 17 goals for Swindon Town, where he spent the first half of the season on loan, and Peterborough United last term, he has not featured this time round since Hockaday's early-season sacking at Elland Road.

The 27-year-old is currently a free agent, with The Star reporting he is on the radar of the Championship club.

O'Dea has been training with another of his former sides Celtic, to get fit after leaving Ukrainian club Metalurgs Donetsk in the summer.

Last month he was on trial at Blackpool, but has not been signed up, and while his former connection with Leeds makes a move in some way possible - there are numerous reasons why it should be a non-starter.

O'Dea was on loan with Leeds in 2011/12 from Celtic, but the club were not taken enough with him to sign him permanently, and he landed up signing with FC Toronto in MLS instead.

There will be questions over O'Dea's lack of match fitness, and why he still remains a free agents after all this time.

The club are also well covered in the left-back position. Stephen Warnock has been outstanding this season, while Liam Cooper and Gaetano Berardi have also shown they can deputise.

Town boss Mick McCarthy says midfielder Jack Collison won’t be staying with the Blues beyond the end of his current short-term deal which is up later this month.

The 26-year-old joined Town in September but hasn’t made a full appearance having suffered various injuries. The Wales international is currently sidelined with a knee problem which he picked up playing for the U21s last month.

“Jack’s injured, Jack won’t be staying, sadly he’s got an injury,” McCarthy confirmed at this evening’s PLC AGM.

Celtic striker Anthony Stokes being lined up for £1.5m bid from Cardiff City - according to reports

Tues Dec 09, 2014

By Gareth Rogers

As Russell Slade looks to add to his squad in January, Celtic's Anthony Stokes is reportedly the man he's looking at to fire the Bluebirds back into the promotion race.

Cardiff City are reportedly lining up a January bid for Celtic striker Anthony Stokes.

The Republic of Ireland frontman, who scored Celtic's winning goal in their 1-0 victory over Motherwell on Saturday, would cost around £1.5, according to MailOnline .

Stokes, who started out at Arsenal before spending three years at Sunderland, could be the man to spark some firepower into the Bluebirds attack to breathe life into their Premier League promotion challenge.

But Bhoys boss Ronny Deila has made Stokes a regular first team player so it would take a good offer to prise the man who signed a three year deal in October 2013, out of Parkhead.

One thing that could interest the 26-year-old is the fact he's played most of the season on the left wing and still scored seven goals.

Manager Russell Slade said after Saturday's draw with Rotherham: "If we can add a couple to the group, things will be a lot better.

‘We’re going in the right direction — but I think there’s lots of work still to be done and a lot of improvement still to come from the group that we’ve got.’

Stokes has secured three league title medals and two Scottish Cup medals, scoring 73 goals in 151 domestic appearances and two goals in Europe. He could be one of a number of January departures from Celtic, with Kris Commons, Leigh Griffiths and Beram Kayal also assessing their options.
