Coventry City FC and Cardiff are both anxiously waiting for an X-ray verdict on Ben Turner who hobbled out of today’s 1-1 draw against Oldham.
The towering centre-half fell awkwardly as he headed the ball back to goalkeeper Reice Charles-Cook in the 16th minute, and although he waved away a stretcher and was helped off by the Coventry City FC medical staff, Tony Mowbray admitted he fears a serious injury.
The City boss, who confirmed that Turner has damaged his left ankle as opposed to the right one that needed major reconstructive surgery before he arrived on loan from Cardiff, revealed: “He’s distraught in there and it’s obviously a major worry.
“It wasn’t a tackle or anything like that – he jumped and twisted the wrong way as he landed and that’s always a worry because he’s a big unit.
“We obviously won’t know until he’s been scanned but he’s not one of those lads who comes off if it’s a slight twinge.”
Mowbray thought that Turner’s exit made the difference between City claiming a point as opposed to the win that would have kept them second in the third tier table.

I fear Big Ben's best days may be behind him.
Starting to become injury prone and it seems every time he starts to come back he breaks down again.
Shame.
Who was that lad we took who used to be centre half for Boro and played one game for us amd then had to limp off against the Wurzels at their place and was then forced to retire?
Sadly looks like Turner may be facing a similar situation.

Chris riggott was the centre back. Played one full game and looked quality bit then broke down again and basically retired. Be such a shame if that happened to Ben as although he has his limits as a defender he is quality. The centre back version of peltier.

The reality of professional sport, if this is serious we'll take care of him and help him move on, but move on he must do.
Gutted because i really like and rate him, but this is a cut throat business and why we have an academy and U21 team
