Craig Noone a doubt for Brighton game

Slade says Lee Peltier is OK for the Brighton game, but influential winger Craig Noone remains a doubt.

Russell Slade praises Pilkington's performances up front and says he will continue to play upfront

Slade says I take the view he’s done well, stretching the opposition, he’s a willing runner. He can score a goal, very calm in the box, he scores a lot in training. He’s not scored in last couple but we have to show faith.

Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club is an English football club based in the coastal city of Brighton & Hove, East Sussex. It is often referred to just as Brighton. They currently play in the Football League Championship, the second tier of the English football league system, hosting games at the 30,750-capacity Falmer Stadium, known for commercial purposes as the American Express Community Stadium, or simply the Amex.

The team is nicknamed the "Seagulls" or "Albion". The team has historically played in blue and white stripes, though this changed to all white briefly in the 1970s and again to plain blue during the club's most successful spell in the 1980s. Crystal Palace is considered the club's main rival, although the grounds are 40 miles apart.

Founded in 1901, Brighton played their early professional football in the Southern League before being elected to the Football League in 1920. The club enjoyed greatest prominence between 1979 and 1983 when they played in the First Division and reached the 1983 FA Cup Final, losing to Manchester United after a replay. They were relegated from the top division in the same season. Mismanagement brought Brighton close to relegation from the Football League to the Conference which they narrowly avoided in 1997 and 1998. A boardroom takeover saved Brighton from liquidation, and following successive promotions they returned to the second tier of English football in 2002 and have played in the second and third tiers ever since.

Ridgewell has gone back now as his loan has expired so Rosenior will play left back as he's just returned from a lengthy lay off.

I'm in attendance so will be a dull draw. Just hope you've got WiFi so I can play Candy Crush Jelly ;)

Date and Time: Saturday 20th February (12.30)

Venue: Cardiff City Stadium

Referee: Darren Bond

Television: Sky Sports 1

Cardiff take on high-flyers Brighton and Hove Albion at the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday in the Championship’s early kick-off. The Bluebirds will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing away draw against struggling Charlton last week while Brighton will be looking t build on a solid mid-week result against table toppers Hull City.

Russell Slade’s men continued to stumble in their play-off chase last week, adding to an unsatisfying home draw with MK Dons with a goalless away draw against then bottom Charlton Athletic. Cardiff remain five points outside the play-offs in ninth position.

On the flip-side, Brighton continue their good form and look a sure bet for the Sky Bet Championship play-offs come May and are even planning an assault on the top two. The Seagulls are currently third in the second tier, just one point behind Middlesbrough in second and three points behind table toppers Hull City.

Chris Hughton’s men come up against Hull City at the KC Stadium on Tuesday and the fixture finished goalless despite the home side having twelve efforts to Brighton’s five and somehow not grabbing the victory, however, Brighton had a goal disallowed in the final stages and could have taken all three points.

Cardiff face a tricky two fixtures with Brighton at home followed by Middlesbrough away on Tuesday. A loss on Saturday could leave Cardiff with a big task on Tuesday and the play-offs could really begin to slip away for the South Wales club.

When the two teams clashed earlier on in the season, Brighton were unbeaten in the opening nine games and had to come from behind after an early Joe Mason goal put the visitors ahead at the AMEX. Dale Stephens grabbed the all-important equalizer and the two teams shared the spoils, despite Cardiff winger Sammy Ameobi having a golden chance late-on. Five of the last six meetings between the two clubs have finished level.

" Hughton Gives Injury Update Ahead Of Cardiff "

18/02/16

Manager Chris Hughton has given an injury update ahead of the game against Cardiff City this weekend.

On the back of the scoreless draw against Hull City, Hughton's pre Cardiff press conference has now been held and the comments are starting to come through, and the Argus have him quoted as saying that Beram Kayal's problem wasn't as bad as first thought, so he remains in contention for this weekend's action.

Having carried a slight groin problem, and been substituted in the game against Championship table toppers Hull as it flared up, Hughton explained.

'He is okay. He had a slight groin problem that he was able to play through. We have managed it to a degree. Certainly if he wasn't fit he wouldn't play with the options that we've got. It's something all players do at times. There will always be two or three playing through knocks and some problems. That's the nature of the game, so he is fine.'

With James Wilson missing the last two with a groin problem of his own, Hughton went on to say that he did come back into his thoughts for this game.

'James didn't train but he was out with our medical staff and has come through a fairly good session. We are very hopeful he will train tomorrow and be included in the squad. It has been a little bit sporadic for James overall but he has proved when he is on the pitch he can score goals. That type of individual you always want available.'

The longer term casualty list is also starting to shrink a little with Liam Rosenior back for the Hull match as an unused substitute, and we also now have Gaeten Bong back in training as well as Gordon Greer.

'Gordon's trained the last few days and trained again this morning.'

Fellow defensive partner Uwe Hunemeier's progress is more disappointing though.

'Uwe has taken probably a bit longer than we thought. At the moment he is still not right to take the next step forward of being very close to training with the team.'

Re: ' LATEST NEWS: CARDIFF CITY V BRIGHTON ' UPDATED DAILY '

Fri Feb 19, 2016 1:30 am

The Football League have now announced the Match Day officials that will take charge of the game against Cardiff City this weekend.

Brighton travel to Cardiff City on Saturday February 20 for the game at the Cardiff City Stadium and the match carries a 12.30pm kick off.

Referee: Darren Bond
Linesmen: Adrian Tranter and Andrew Turner
Fourth Official: Stephen Martin

Match Day referee Bond (Lancashire) is yet to officiate a Brighton game this season.

He has however already taken in 24 other matches so far in 2015-16 and in those games, across all competitions and football divisions, he has handed out a total of 71 yellow cards and two red cards.

He was most card happy in the match between Bristol City and MK Dons on October 3 with a total of eight yellows being shown.

Let`s hope it`s not another repeat and more of our players edge closer to automatic bans.
