' THAT WAS NOT THE BEST PERFORMANCE '

Sat Feb 20, 2016 3:49 pm

I am sure some will claim it is the best performance of the season, it certainly is at home but I think the Wolves away display was better.

Some of the football today was the best we have seen at home but to be honest it was on a par with some of the displays we have seen on the road on a number of occasions.

Today's game was won early on thanks to two early goals and an excellent and assured start from City's four attacking players, Pilkington, Immers, Lawrence and Whittingham.

In the first twenty minutes of the game the four of them created space, either for each other or to find space that gave them an advantage ofthe ball came to them.

They managed to pull the back four of Brighton all over the pitch and quite simply Brighton's defence couldn't live with the movement.

It was fitting that Pilkington, Whittingham and Immers got the first three goals.

I thought Tom Lawrence had an outstanding game and looks a real threat.

Some of the football today was the best we have seen at home but to be honest it was on a par with some of the displays we have seen on the road on a number of occasions.

I am sure some will claim it is the best performance of the season, it certainly is at home but I think the Wolves away display was better.

I am delighted to get the three points and hats off to Russell Slade, who has had to deal with a massive amount of criticism this season, which I believe some of it has been unjustified.

Many times this season, poor decisions and poor finishing has cost us too many points but the manager has been roundly criticised though the players have been more culpable than the manager.

I hope fans give Slade and the players the credit for today's excellent performance and result.

I am going to Middlesbrough on Tuesday with hope in my heart that we can come away with something from the game.

Before today Brighton had only lost once on the road and that was a hammering for them in terms of conceding four goals.

Confidence will be high tonight and I see no reason why we cannot kick on from today and push for a play off spot.

Carl at home especially our best performance and made Brighton the worse looking team to come down to us so fair play to Slade and the boys they now seem to be playing a system that works and pleasing to watch the whole team was immense. :thumbright: :ayatollah:

" It (today's performance) would have to be up there with the best since I’ve been here,”

“I was very pleased with the performance at Wolves a few weeks ago where I thought we were excellent that day. Today, sometimes when you work so hard, as we have done in recent games, and created chances and not got the rewards. But we got them today, our movement was good, we got into some good positions and managed to finish. We were ruthless today and it was really good to see.

The performance is not my only comment, the performance not being the best of the season is my headline, big difference

I watch City home and away and have seen several excellent performances but they have been away and not at home.

I am sick and tired of people having a pop at Slade and saying our football is dire under him so I am underlining the point that today was not the best of the season and there has been better.

My post highlights that but you want to criticise me and not the content.

Typical of somebody with an agenda, read a headline and not the full article.

Annis people like Paul just want to moan about something.

You got to laugh, I have been defending Slade and the teams performances for weeks and somehow Paul wants to make me look the negative one, you couldn't make it up

Your missing my point. Although his quote doesnt state that.

Why focus on that, your ermm "headline" as you call it

You may or may not have notice you arent the only one defending slade :D

By far the best attacking game I've seen from city all season at one point I thought we were going to stick 6 or 7 on them

Paul, I think you are missing the point.

I am not stating it was a poor performance or even standard, it was excellent but not the best of the season.

Many are saying that Slades football is rubbish, so if those think that today was a one off then they are wrong as today's performance was not the best of the season, we have played better.

So a message to the moaning fans, get off the managers back because we do play some decent stuff and today was not a 'one off'.

I have been expecting the 'one swallow doesn't make a summer' remarks like I had thrown at me when we beat Wolves comfortably and in style.

That's tricky, both excellent results, a 2-1 win away to Wolves was excellent and today's 4-1 hammering of Brighton was brilliant.

My 'not the best performance' is not a dig it is aimed at those who will claim it was a one off performance under Slade but I disagree as I have seen better displays this season even though today was excellent.

Good spot. I thought we looked very balanced with left-footed Whitts on the left and right footed Lawrence on the right. We definitely stretched Brighton as a result.

Correct it was not the best performance of the season as some of our away games have been better Wolves and Huddersfield :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

But it was a great result today and shocked us all :ayatollah: :bluebird:

Cold, wet windy soaked right through and all you lot can say is how well we Fooking played. Well how selfish is that ?

What about the support today Annis, I tip my hat to those there ( live off island myself ) but really had higher expectations regarding attendance today. If we start a little winning run will that force them out of excuses not to be there? The only thing I miss since leaving uk is my sat afternoon ritual of doing a game

To everyone who braved the weather yesterday . I'm glad the players delivered for us, as we were footing soaked as said above even top rows of Ninian we were still getting wet. And for the stay aways you have no excuse for the Preston game
