' SIGNIFICANT RESULT DESPITE TEPID DISPLAY '

That could prove to be a significant win this afternoon, we played one more game than Ipswich heading into today's encounter level on points, with a better goal difference of seven goals, we may look back on these three points as pivotal in our race to the play offs.

Ipswich would have gone 3 points ahead with a game in hand but Russell Slade and the players made sure City didn't slip away and responded to the midweek defeat to Leeds in perfect fashion.

It was not vintage football at all but it was effective and at the stage of the season we are at, then result is all that matters.

That said City did look the better of the two teams and deserved the victory this afternoon.

City don't play until next Saturday but their opponents Reading play on Tuesday night so there is an obvious advantage to us there.

Derby County let a three goal lead slip against Rotherham this afternoon and next week face the rivals Nottingham Forest.

If City can better Derby's result next Saturday then our next home game at the beginning of April against Derby will be massive in that we can overtake the Rams in the league.

Only nine games to go and City are looking like a settled unit and I really can see us claiming a play off spot.

One game at a time but confidence is growing and the team are performing well.

Get behind the manager and the team for the remaining nine games and hopefully we will be looking forward to the lottery of the play offs :bluescarf:

Agree! We may need to win a few ugly like today rather than lose with style like on Tuesday. It's all heading to some massive games with Derby, Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham still to come. But as you said 1 game at a time and hopefully Reading will have a hard game Tuesday :ayatollah:

If we can keep chipping away and putting together two and three game winning runs then we will do it :bluescarf:

Carl, its a massive massive win and more vital than some might think.

A six pointer and we won and that has kept us right up there :thumbright: :thumbright: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Tuesday's was a massive massive 3 points blown

Definitely a win at Reading or even a draw and good results elsewhere can give us massive impetus on the Derby game. And with no rugby shit going on then surely a good crowd would fancy that one and give the 12th man boost :bluebird:

It was, but we played 10 times better on Tuesday than we did today in football terms. But Leeds are down mid table area and today's scrappy win was significantly more important being that Ipswich were right up our arses

Agreed. Decent summary of the situation.

100% agree Carl.

No it wasn't a classic, but I'll go back to what Russell Slade said a couple of weeks ago. We're now at the stage of the season where results are more important than performances. We had the performance on Tuesday but not the result, today was scrappy but we got the win.

Obviously it would be nice to get both in an ideal world.

But I actually enjoyed today just as much as Tuesday. Our players had just as much fight in them and did all they could to get over the line. It's exactly the sort of match we would have thrown away last season or even pre-Christmas this season.

We have given ourselves a very, very strong chance of top six with that win. I also read on here we're 2nd in the form table. A lot have always tried to say Slade isn't up to it, even recently, but he has delivered three wins in four games.

We're within touching distance of two of the teams in the play-offs, and now is the time for the fans to get behind the team and the manager.

I'm going to Reading next week and looking forward to it, because I actually have belief in Cardiff City on the pitch now :ayatollah:

Good to see you as always :thumbright:

Thought the final 10 mins was as comfortable as we've been with a single goal lead!

Great result and that's all that counts at this time of the season! :ayatollah:

Funnily enough my lad said coming home in the car, 1-0 was comfortable as Ipswich didn't really threaten us
