" A Fairy Tale Story "

No silverspoon, no £300m academy, no 5 year £10m contract at 17, no God given ability - hard work, desire & now he's having a party

We should be championing people like him in this country to show the kids what you can achieve with hard work instead of these TOWIE idiots

And this kid Vardy is pure gold, worked his balls off through the leagues and now look at him, they will be making a film about him in 20yrs

After being released by Sheffield Wednesday at the age of sixteen, Vardy began his senior career with Stocksbridge Park Steels, breaking into the first team in 2007 and spending three seasons before joining Northern Premier League side F.C. Halifax Town in 2010. Scoring 26 goals in his debut season, he won the club's "Player's Player of the Year" award.

He then moved to Conference Premier side Fleetwood Town in August 2011 for an undisclosed fee. He scored 31 league goals in his first season at his new team, winning the team's "Player of the Year" award as they won the division.

In May 2012, Vardy signed for Leicester City in the Football League Championship for a non-League record transfer fee of £1 million, and represented the club in the Premier League after winning the Championship in 2014. He scored in a record eleven consecutive Premier League matches in 2015, breaking Ruud van Nistelrooy's record, and made his international debut earlier in the same year.

Jamie Vardy scores on his England debut last night.

Couldn't agree more, footballs gone mad and society has gone mad and then we wonder why we have issues. Vardy is total opposite and a reminder that the correct values are still respected by some. Good luck to the lad except against Wales.

Gareth, a real fair tale story and there's problem many more out there like Vardy, but we keep brining in to many foreign players.

Martyn, I love stories like this and when a local kid makes it for Cardiff City that means more to me,than brining in big names from other clubs. :ayatollah: :bluebird:

As regards Declan John I think he has been treated terrible how they have allowed this is beyond belief

Think of all the money recently wasted on Etien Velikonja, Adam Le Fonde, Tom Adeyemi, Federico Macheda, Eoin Doyle, Alex Revel, Filip Kiss, Juan Cala and Javi Guerra. Only a fraction of their transfer fees and wages would fund a decent academy for years.

During the Sam Hammam academy era of the early 2000 CCFC produced 4 definite members of the Welsh Euro 2016 squad (5 if Adam Mathews makes it) plus the area of Cardiff adds the 2 super stars in the shape of Ramsey and Bale. If Wales were to win the Euro championships we could argue we are the Welsh club version of West Ham in 1966 :bluescarf:

My point is it makes so much sense to grow your own talent rather than waste £millions on journey men just looking for another pay day (reference the players in the first paragraph). There is also money to be made (or saved) in transfer fees if they move on.

I wish Ken Choo and Vincent would get this message and start funding the academy again.

That's a great story! The way his season is going he will be top goalscorer in France or maybe 2nd behind our Gareth  . In all honesty it is a great story and examples to all young players :ayatollah:
