' CARDIFF CITY UPDATE WEDNESDAY AUGUST 3RD 2016 '

TICKET SALES
At close of business yesterday (Tuesday) Cardiff City had sold just over 1,700 tickets for our opening match away to Birmingham City.

Sales continue to be brisk today and the club are expecting approximately 2,000 Bluebirds to be at St Andrews on Saturday. We have an allocation of 2,200 for this fixture.

There are no travel restrictions for the game this Saturday.

Tickets for the cup match versus Bristol Rovers next Thursday have just gone over the 500 number, again this fixture has no travel restrictions whatsoever meaning City fans heading on coaches, by car or train can do so with no fuss and just head straight to the ground.

AWAY MATCHES FURTHER AHEAD
The Fulham away match will likely see the use of sniffer dogs as per last season's fixture at Craven Cottage.

For the Burton Albion away match City will have an allocation of 1,700. This ground will most likely be the most popular for most Championship clubs due to it being a new ground for most.

TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS
For each away game up to and including Burton Albion, at present there are no travel restrictions on City fans.

CARDIFF AND READING TICKET OFFER
Reading FC approached Cardiff City FC about doing a reciprocal ticket price for both matches between the two clubs, an agreement of £20 for adults and £10 for 18yrs - 24yrs old has been agreed. In previous season there has been a limited number of family tickets and this promotion supersedes that.

CITY ARRESTS 2015/16
A total of 23 City fans were arrested over the whole of last season, home and away, but 10 of those arrests came in one match, Fulham away. The 10 arrested were Drink/Drug related arrests.

City fans were warned prior to that match and again the warning is that Fulham will most likely have sniffer dogs at their turnstiles again this season.

SEASON TICKET SALES
Cardiff City season tickets sales were announced at the meeting as similar numbers to what was sold for the whole of last season, the club were hopeful that they would have sold a few thousand more than they did last season after they made significant price drops in season tickets all over the stadium and they are as little as £49 for U16's.

WALES FANS EURO'S ARRESTS
The Euro's were discussed and the success of the tournament from Wales' perspective, it was considered a huge success both on and off the pitch, just 13 Welsh fans were arrested over the course of the whole event.

PAUL TROLLOPE'S FIRST LEAGUE MATCH PRESS CONFERENCE
Paul Trollope's first league match press conference has been pulled forward 24 hours to tomorrow, instead of the usual Friday morning meet up with the media, this coincides with the open day training session that takes place tomorrow also.

TEAM NEWS
Positive news from the City camp is that Paul Tollope has a fully fit squad ahead of the Birmingham match.

POLICE FREE GAMES
Due to the impeccable behaviour of City fans at home games we will have more police free games than ever before at CCS.

Mostly a Great positive update Carlos :ayatollah: :bluebird:

Just one big concern is season ticket sales, as I've heard they are less than 10,000 and City are very concerned as they have sold them at the lowest prices for many years and thousands of these are £49 tickets, City were expecting 15,000 plus sales.

The surprise to me is at the clubs surprise RE season tickets.

Doesn't anyone understand what happened during the last few years?
The lost generation????
My gang of 6 is now three. ( used to be a gang of 20!)

Just keep positive, work together and engage with the fans, we may see an improvement in
Attendances start again.

Ps. A player signing showing intent would be a massive boost

Club too quiet and this doesn't drag the fans out of the pub

Isn`t the Bristol Rovers game on Thursday rather than Wednesday?

It says Thursday 11th on the official club website.

Some of the passengers on your coach might be a bit confused if you take them there a day early :D

Thursday is a weird day for the game - I had to do a double check on the fixture list as I thought I had read it wrong at first. Is it due to television or is it one of those caused by avoiding a clash with European games?

If the club want a few more thousand through the turnstiles back up what you say and show ambition for promotion by signing a good striker simple as that really.

Totally agree with you.

I'm amazed that the club don't realize that those fans who may be considering a season ticket are seeing no real ambition from the club in terms of signings and therefore are keeping their hands in their pockets until they see how things go.

From the outside the club doesn't look that different from last season and with an unproven manager and virtually the same squad, the club must surely realise that fans aren't going to flock to the ground straight away.
