' MY VIEW/OPINION TODAY BRUM V CARDIFF CITY '

A fair result, Brum probably just shaded it, but Cardiff were the away team, a point away from home, I am happy with that as long as we win our home games.

I'm still worried about City upfront and I believe we need a striker Asap.

We never looked that dangerous in front of goal against a very ordinary Brum side.

BIRMINGHAM CITY 0 CARDIFF CITY 0

Away Support Cardiff 1,803

CARDIFF CITY Marshall, Peltier, Manga, Connolly, Jazz Richards, John, Immers, Whittingham, Ralls, Pilkington, Gounongbe

substitutes: Moore, Ajayi, Morrison, Gunnarsson, O'Keefe, Noone, Zohore.

The Bluebirds made the short journey today to St Andrews under new Cardiff City manager Paul Trollope and were backed by 1,803 fans :bluebird: :bluebird:

Cardiff City went in to this game with plenty of optimism since new manager Paul Trollope took over and with Birmingham having not won at home since the 3rd March,City fans were looking for 3pts today.

Cardiff had a full squad to pick from, whilst Birmingham were without Nicolai Brock-Madsen against Cardiff as he is in Brazil for the Olympics with Denmark.

Cardiff held their own in the first half and for me Lex Immers probable edged it.
Over all Birmingham just edged it.
Nothing really exciting and City were thankful they never gave a penalty away.

Half-time

Brum 0 CCFC 0

Brum started second half on front foot and took control, with David Marshall tipping the ball over the cross bar.

Lex Immers hit the cross bar.

Then once again David Marshall had to make a super save :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

New manager Paul Trollope really did try to change things.

Zohore came on for Gounongbe.

Craig Noone and Stuart O’Keefe came on Joe Ralls and Anthony Pilkington replaced them.

Lex Immers in the 90th minute just over with a shot.

Over all a fair result :ayatollah:

Did City go there to win the game or did Trollope adopt Slade's negativity and went there for the draw

In my opinion City were not negative, Trollope went to win, but has not got the striker he needs upfront.
Brum are poor though.

A point more than we got in this game last year, so I'll take it.

According to Radio Wales we were by far the better team, and if it wasn't for their goalkeeper and a terrible miss we would have won comfortably...

Hmmm?

Brum had by far the better chances.

But with a good striker we also could have won :ayatollah:

We all know that goals are going to be a problem with our current strikeforce, and this game had 0-0 written all over it all week. I was surprised with some of the forecasts on here with fans on this forum predicting us to score three and even four goals today, They have either been watching a different City to me, or they are not living in the real world where Cardiff are concerned. I expect the ususal suspects will have us down to score five or six next time out. A point away from home is always a good point in this division.

cant believe what im reading here. should have been 3 up at half time, then went on to hit the bar in the 2nd half.
only time they looked dangerous was when they brought that young boy on.
only bit i can agree on was strikers fred and zohore was piss poor today. id happily not see jazz richards in a city shirt again

Goals are will of course change our season and a good striker could be the difference between us being 12th or top 6 this season.

How many times was that said last season? Just about every game we did'nt win. This was a match between two sides with hardly any money between them, very little in the way of squad improvements, and a distictive lack of threats up front. Was a perfect bet for 0-0 all week, but we had the usual people living in fantasy land predicting us to score three or four goals again.

I felt on the balance of play today we edged Birmingham I think.

I was listening to the reports on Talksport and the reporter ( who is a Bluenose) was more positive about City than Brum, he seemed to believe that we were the better team on the day

Gareth, I Would say we should of scored one goal in the first half and was well wasted.

Sky sports news were saying we were on top first half and could've been 3 up but Birmingham got back into it second half and it turned into an even game.

They mentioned goals as a problem with Pilkington our top scorer on 9 last season

I thought we edged the game overall and could/should have won. However, Brum had their chances and the City rearguard looked pretty solid in their formation. Undoubtedly, we need attackers who can put the ball into the net but hopefully PT is aware of that and taking steps to rectify

Great to see David "I'll never play for Cardiff City" Cotterill substituted after a lively but ultimately fruitless day and their MotM for me was the fella Donaldson (always a handful) :ayatollah:

One of the four goal opportunities in H1 would have sealed it for us today. H2 Brum upped their game by closing us down and again, one goal for each side one have won the 3 points. On reflection, a bit of a concern that we got read in H2 and maybe we should have subbed earlier on account of this. Pleased with an away point against a similar unit side but was expecting perhaps a more dynamic attack from an apparent wingback forward setup.

1 ?
Manga mis-controlling infront of keeper, Gunongbe missing open goal from 3 yards, Thats without some stunning saves from Whitts long range effort. Also Pilkingtons 1 on 1 when he should have slotted it passed keeper but tried to lob it over him and went into his hands. If you look back it could have been a hat-full. Then Immers scorcher in 2nd half off the bar

We should of finished them off in the first half. Birmingham came back into it. I felt noone should of come on a bit earlier but happy we came away with a point as manga tired at the end and they could of snatched it.

Yes, but Birmingham only had three on target to our five? We also had more of the ball and the same amount of corners as them.

Both managers agreed a draw was the right result. The Birmingham manager said his goalkeeper and defender were probably his two best players on the day, which tells you they had to defend a lot. A lot of our fans say the two stand-out players were Lex Immers and Declan John, who are two of our attacking players.

Re: ' MY VIEW/OPINION TODAY BRUM V CARDIFF CITY '

Cardiff had all the first half and yes should have been 2-3 clear by half time, need a goal scorer desperately. Birmingham had the better of the second half but only made one goal scoring chance that I can remember, great to see Declan running up the wing, Richards not so good on the other side, very poor. One side of the pitch all game, most pressing down the left. Great support by everyone. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Matching the home team near enough for shots is a strong showing for chances created.
