Chris Gunter shows his specialist qualities
By Phil Smith
Playing wing-back is tactically and physically one of the most demanding jobs in the game, and it takes time to adapt and find the right balance between defence and attack.
Chris Gunter has played it to perfection for Wales and on his first appearance at the Cardiff City Stadium this season, showed how much of a difference it makes to have a specialist in that role.
There was a slip in the first half that almost exposed his team but otherwise it was a hugely assured performance as he powered forward and often dropped into the centre of defence to offer his team a bit more flexibility.
Crucially, he has that all important sense of when to attack and when to sit. Harris, Richards, and John have all impressed in that position this season but Gunter's showing was a reminded as to how it will take time to really settle.
