' MORE SAVINGS MADE BY CEO KEN CHOO '
CEO Ken Choo has made more savings for Cardiff City.
Not a huge amount of money in terms of all the sales of players and wage bill cuts but still a saving nonetheless.
This season Cardiff City have academy youngsters as ball boys on match day.
Previously the ball boys have been from the football in the community and the club has bought official tracksuits for each ball boy plus a meal voucher.
By choosing to use youngsters from within the academy, a saving of £20,000 has been made per annum.
As I said not the biggest amount in the mad world of football finances but it is certainly a saving that I tend to agree with and it makes sense in my opinion.

this club have always been very switched on with making tiny savings here and there, but with the things that truly matter, such as maximising transfer fees, fail abysmally. it really does make a mockery of our club when they trumpet a £20k saving then sell our star player for a rock bottom fee costing many millions.
in short, penny wise, pound foolish. just imagine how much more competitive we could be if we had more competent people running the club.

The worst decision the Riddler made !
By the way, how have they managed to get The Grazing Shed in when I thought Compass had the exclusive contract inside the ground ?

Might sound great on paper however not using outside
kids will not encourage future supporters etc.
The hidden cost of losing that maybe far greater than 20k
per season.

The stewards are under the impression that the club will increasingly use agency staff so that they can reduce costs by scaling up/down as needed. They also don't get free food anymore.

Talking to the owner of The Grazing Shed in Barrack Lane today, he was very happy to be there and said the club worked with him

I think this i a completely backward move by the club. Ensuring we have an active football in the community programme and allowing the kids to work on match days and giving tracksuits is a positive thing that should never be stopped. This could cost the club in the long run with friends and families of the football in the community programmes being less engaged and less likely to come and watch city.
Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face. Actually I am amazed that you think this is a good idea in any way.
Our club is truly pathetic and this again shows lack of foresight and imagination. The clubs austerity moves will backfire when engagement with the local community is sacrificed to save a few quid.

I think academy should be the ball boys, they got more spark about them. Might celebrate with the players.

I think getting the Academy boys involved is a good idea

Just the short sightedness the Club have shown on numerous occasions these past few seasons.

It's not just about the money or whether it will cost us any support, it's more the image that the club projects to the public, paricularly those in S Wales. A lot people still think of us as being a bit of a circus, and I would have thought the club would be doing it's best to look good in the eyes of the public, particularly when they are struggling to get people through the turnstiles.

I can't see how Choo has saved City money this window. Macheda was paid off (£1.2m), Dikgacoi was paid off (£0.72m) and I guess we are still paying part of Adeyemi's wages and Le Fondre's too.

Wez,
Macheda was on £25k/week. That's £100k/month. To pay up his contract with a year to go cost £1.2m.

I thought we only paid up half his contract which would be 600k?

Where did you get 25k from ? I put a post on here before that he was on 600k euros a year basic a little bit more than he was in at man Utd someone said we paid him 600k up that would be his whole contract paid up I don't believe we would of given him a 15k a week pay rise from his man Utd days

I think we might of paid him his contract up but he wasn't on 25k a week, Fabio and alf were on a lot more than him
