" HOW THE SEVEN CARDIFF PLAYERS DID "

Seven Bluebirds were in action for their international sides this week, with two surprising scorers.

Frederic Gounongbe

Frederic Gounongbe has managed to grab his first goal of the season.

The Benin forward has shown little composure in front of goal during his first five matches for the Bluebirds - including missing a sitter from a yard out against Birmingham on his debut.

He did however get on the score sheet for his country this weekend.

His deft chip over the keeper wasn't enough however to stop his side slipping to a 5-2 defeat against Mali in their qualifying match.

Gounongbe has been poor since joining Cardiff but scored for his country
Bluebirds fans will be hoping that his international scoring form may carry over into their match away at Norwich this weekend.

Manga's surprise...

There was another surprise Bluebird scorer this weekend as Bruno Manga found the back of the net for Gabon in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan.

The Bluebirds centre back netted his sixth goal for his country in his 42nd appearance.

Closer to home...
New Cardiff signing Emyr Huws came on as a sub as Wales demolished Moldova 4-0 on their return to action after their Euro 2016 exploits.

He will be hoping for more game time as Wales' qualifying campaign continues in Austria next month.

Jazz Richards, another Cardiff new boy, was an unused substitute for Chris Coleman's men last night.

The Ice Man...

Aron Gunnarsson played a full 90 minutes for Iceland as they travelled to Ukraine. The midfielder picked up a yellow card as his side could only manage a 1-1 draw despite taking the lead in the fifth minute.

He also continued to captain the side after leading them to the quarter finals in Euro 2016 - defeating England along the way.

The youngsters

Cardiff youngsters Tommy O'Sullivan and Kenneth Zohore were in opposing camps as Wales U21 took on Denmark U21, but it was Zohore who was the happier despite being an unused substitute as his Denmark side ran out 4-0 winners.

With all the players expected back at the club by tomorrow, the Bluebirds will now be turning their attention to Norwich as they look to kick start their season after a less than inspiring start.
