Terry, We would not sell that much more at £20, it was a £10 at Bristol Rovers and we never sold out and had not played there for years.

Connections between City and their weekend opponents

CARDIFF City's boss Paul Trollope has links to the Canaries, having served on the Club's coaching staff between 2012 and 2014.

After leaving Carrow Road, Trollope was appointed as the Bluebirds' head coach in February 2015 and five months later took on a coaching role with the Welsh national team alongside his domestic duties.

Playing a prominent role in Wales' qualification for Euro 2016, the former midfielder was awarded the main job with Cardiff at the end of the 2015-16 season, replacing Russell Slade.

Doug Livermore also spent several years in a coaching role with City under a number of different managers, having previously had a distinguised playing career in Norfolk during the 1970s ahead of a two-year stint in Wales.

Of Cardiff's current roster of players, winger Anthony Pilkington spent three years with City before joining the Welsh side in 2014.

Midfielder Tom Adeyemi came through Norwich's Academy system and has been at the Cardiff City Stadium since 2014, but is currently on loan to Rotherham United.

Goalkeeper David Marshall recently joined Hull, bringing an end to a seven-year association with the Bluebirds having joined them from City in 2009.

One of Marshall's teammates in Norfolk was Robert Earnshaw, who struck 27 goals in 45 league appearances from January 2006 to the summer of 2007, having originally started his career with Cardiff.

Finally, current City striker Cameron Jerome made his breakthrough with this weekend's opponents during the 2004-05 campaign; his form there eventually earning a move to Birmingham City.

Fitness boosts for Norwich City ahead of Cardiff clash

Wednesday 07 September 2016

By David Freezer

Summer signing Alex Pritchard looks set for a return to first-team duty with Norwich City, after a sparkling showing for the Canaries’ under-23s.

The £8million capture from Tottenham set up Carlton Morris for the first of City’s goals in a 2-0 win over Valencia U23s last night, in a Premier League International Cup group game at Carrow Road.

The 23-year-old has not featured for the first team since the opening day of the season, when he strained a stomach muscle during a late substitute appearance.

The tricky midfielder was withdrawn at half-time in a pre-planned substitution, alongside fellow returnee Graham Dorrans, who is making his way back from a groin strain.

“It was always planned to give them 45 minutes, that’s what the gaffer (Alex Neil) wanted,” City’s U23s coach Dmitri Halajko said. “First half we were the dominant team, we controlled the ball and had the better chances, but second half was slightly different.”

After the withdrawal of Pritchard and Dorrans, City lost their rhythm and were thankful to another summer signing,
goalkeeper Paul Jones, for denying Valencia with several good saves.

The 30-year-old was signed on a free from Portsmouth, after Declan Rudd’s season-long loan move to Charlton.

“There were some great saves,” Halajko continued. “That’s what goalies are there for, when they’re called upon, but he made some real good saves from chances that otherwise would have been goals for certain. So he came up trumps for us.”

The Football League have now announced the Match Day officials that will take charge of the game against Cardiff City this Saturday.

Norwich City host Cardiff City on Saturday September 10 for the game at Carrow Road and the match carries a 3pm kick off.

Referee: Oliver Langford
Linesmen: Neil Davies and Mark Dwyer
Fourth Official: Alan Young

Match Day referee Langford has officiated four games in 2016/17 with a return of ten yellows and zero red cards.

He took in 41 matches in 2015-16 and in those games, across all competitions and football divisions, he handed out a total of 99 yellow cards and four red cards.

He was most card happy in the match between Burton Albion and Millwall on December 1 with a total of seven yellows being shown, along with one red.

Langford is a very experienced match official, with eight seasons as an EFL referee under his belt. As part of the PGMO development programme, he has officiated in the Dallas Cup and Algarve Cup. He has now refereed nearly 200 EFL matches.

UPDATE ON NORWICH CITY INJURIES

Norwich City V Cardiff City

3pm Saturday 10th September 2016

It could be argued that the international break came at a perfect time for Norwich City manager Alex Neil, as a number of his key players had picked up short-term injuries. Two weeks of rest and recovery will likely be enough time for most of those absentees to be ready for selection, giving Neil much-needed options in certain positions.

Longer term injuries, such as the ones suffered by Martin Olsson and Alex Pritchard, may need a while longer to get them back up to full match fitness.

Re: ' LATEST NEWS: NORWICH v CARDIFF CITY UPDATED DAILY '

Norwich, managed by Alex Neil, had an ideal start to life back in the Championship when they thrashed Blackburn Rovers 4-1 away from home on the opening day.

In more recent times, however, the Canaries’ fortunes have been rather mixed with a win, draw and loss from their last three outings. They narrowly beat Bristol City 1-0, drew 1-1 with arch rivals Ipswich Town before suffering a comprehensive 3-0 defeat to Birmingham City last time out.

The Bluebirds may have to be wary of Nelson Oliveira, a recent capture for the Canaries from Portuguese outfit Benfica. The striker has Championship experience, having scored nine goals in 29 appearances whilst on loan at Nottingham Forest last season.

Team News
Norwich
Norwich will assess their injury situation after the international break - John Ruddy, Ivo Pinto and Cameron Jerome could be fit again, but Martin Olsson and Matt Jarvis may need more time.
Midfielder Alex Pritchard, who has not featured since a stomach injury on the opening day of the season, played 45 minutes for the Under-23s this week.
Graham Dorrans also played in that game but this match may come too soon for him.

Cardiff have a decision to make in goal - Ben Wilson stepped in for Hull-bound David Marshall against Reading but new signings Ben Amos and Brian Murphy could be considered.
