Striker Zohore a 'revelation' says Cardiff boss Warnock

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock says Kenneth Zohore is one of the best strikers in the Championship after being "not far away from being a waste of time" just a few months ago.

Zohore's double helped Cardiff to a 3-1 win over Ipswich Town as the Denmark U21 striker took his tally to nine goals in his last 10 league games.

"I wouldn't swap him for many in the Championship," said Warnock.

"He's got every attribute and you can't coach what he has got."

Warnock believes his management has been key in getting the best out of Zohore.

"There was not a player here like that when I came here," Warnock told BBC Wales Sport.

"He was not a waste of time, but he wasn't far away from being a waste of time.

'He's been a revelation'

"He walked about, wouldn't tackle, wouldn't chase back and he wore gloves everywhere.

"You name it really.

"But he's a good lad and the chat I had with him against Wolves at half-time (in December) was obviously vital, because he's been a revelation since then."

Warnock says the transformation in Zohore's game is comparable to that of some Premier League and international players he has worked with in his lengthy managerial career.

"Some lads don't believe in themselves and need convincing.

"The minimum you should get out of a player is 100%. Then the ability goes on top.

"You need that work ethic at any level of the game.

"When you do that, you make your own luck, as Gary Player used to say."

However, Warnock is unconcerned that rival clubs might be looking at Zohore, who he has previously stated was not for sale, even at £20 million.

"He will not be going anywhere," added Warnock.

"I am happy with that. They won't sell him behind my back, I will tell you that.

"I think Vincent (Tan) is enjoying it as much as me."

Warnock also feels he has improved winger Kadeem Harris, whose direct running led to Cardiff's third goal.

"He's another one like Ken, I think he needs me more than I need him," he said.

"I thought he'd been here six months, but he's been here three or four years,"

"So he's been a waste of time, hasn't he? So hopefully the penny drops and he stays with us.

"I have talked to his dad a couple of times. Sometimes the grass looks greener on the other side, but if I was Kadeem, I would be looking to stay here.

"He has someone who believes in him and gives him a chance."

In fairness we have found a potential real gem - the question is even if We don't want to sell and a bid comes in for 20 million - is NW and the club not going to cash in and bring in four or five quality players as part of the rebuild process.

I think there will be real interest in the summer for him and could be a potentially difficult decision to make

As crazy as it sounds, id even consider resting him for a couple of weeks. We know what league we will be in next season. keep him fresh plus might cool a bit of interest from other clubs, Sky sports were raving about him,and this young man will score for fun. Lets hope he has a stinker for Denmark(sorry ken)

What a time to be on the books at City. If you don't run through walls for NW then you probably never will.

Warnock does deserve credit on the form of Zohore but he never had a chance here under previous managers.. I feel like he got a lot of flack when he barely played a game for us.

But that's the whole point that Warnock is talking about!
He barely played because of his attitude, strolling about with gloves on etc. Wasn't good enough to play for us. Slade was too thick to see it and Trollope couldn't 'manage'

The problem has been the fans and the club not understanding them.

Our fanbase grew very quickly, a lot of these were not brought up on dungeon football and terrace culture, they were the sky sports generation, analyzing every aspect as if its a science that can be researched.

Malky got us promoted playing an ugly but very effective brand of football based upon the abilities of Whitts to control the pace of the game and deliver perfect set plays. Since he left we have had the obsession of playing the "right way", pass and contol, like "top" teams, to please the fans who have now fcuked off. Three failures later, we end up with Warnock.

We now see the ball go forward much, much quicker, so its no surprise that players whose athleticism is greater than technical ability are coming to the fore. Warnock knows how he wants to play and is giving confidence to a lot of the players who lost it under the previous regimes, due to the slower more patient build up that didn't play to their strengths.
The fans we have now are the sons and daughters or the fans we had during the dungeon years and understand what championship football is about.

Zohore, Harris, Gunnar and Ralls have all improved over Whitts and Lambert. I believe this has more to do with the rapidly changed game plan rather than just father time.

Back to Zohore, he won't be sold. Vinny more than everything wants to be proved right and this lad is from the selection process set up by Vinnys football network.

Warnock, Jepson and Blackwell.....the team is vital. What was Ken's injury yesterday by the way?
Wonder if it'll stop him playing for Denmark Under 21s.

And he will stay if the club treats him right.

Warnock is doing his bit, the team are rallying round him and obviously the fans love him to bits.

Take note please VT.
