Kadeem Harris was given an ultimatum by Neil Warnock that has turned the Cardiff City winger into a star

"I thought he'd been here six months, but he's been here three or four years!

"So he's been a waste of time, but hopefully the penny has dropped and he'll stay with us.

Neil Warnock has put Kadeem Harris into the same bracket as transformed Cardiff City striker Kenneth Zohore , believing the young winger has been a revelation under his tutelage.

Harris impressed once again this weekend as the Bluebirds cruised past Ipswich Town 3-1 at Cardiff City Stadium.

The 23-year-old wide player is finally showing his potential after years on the fringes of the Cardiff squad. He's been handed an opportunity by Warnock and grasped it with both hands, scoring four goals since the turn of the year.

But Warnock revealed he needed to spark the former Wycombe winger into life when he first arrived at the club in October.

And he wants Harris at the forefront of his promotion charge next season.

"I think he's another one, like Ken, I think he needs me just as much as I need him," said Warnock when asked about the in-form Harris.

"I thought he'd been here six months, but he's been here three or four years!

"So he's been a waste of time, but hopefully the penny has dropped and he'll stay with us.

"I've been talking to his Dad a couple of times and sometimes the grass looks greener on the other side. But if I was Kadeem I'd want to stay here, with someone who believes in him and gives him a chance."

Harris' solo run and square for Joe Bennett's goal capped a marvellous attacking display from the Bluebirds that proved too much for a poor Ipswich side.

Warnock added: "Junior's backheel for the second and Kadeem's run for the third... that epitomised the whole team. We were on the front foot and great to watch at times."

The veteran manager insisted these transformed players like Harris and Zohore had the potential to continue their improvement.

That could be crucial to Warnock's well-documented aspirations to achieve promotion to the Premier League next season.

"There's no reason why these players should go backwards now," he added.

"There are some lads who don't believe in themselves and need convincing they've got to do more. The minimum you should get out of any player is 100 per cent, no matter how good you are.

"And if you've got ability that comes on top.

"You've got to get that work ethic in your game at every level.

"And when you do that you make your own luck. Gary Player (the golfer) used to say 'the harder you work, the luckier you get'."

To me, Kareem Harris was the difference between the performance against Birmingham and the performance against Ipswich. Defences can cope with a threat down the middle (like KZ), or a threat out wide. But it's hard to cope with both.

Wouldn't even say it's just Kadeem out wide. We also had Noone and Hoilett, three threatening players all trying to push forward. To mark all three and Zohore was a huge task.

Yes, after some recent criticism even Noone put in a worthwhile shift and the three you mention were a nightmare for Ipswich all through the game

I still believe Noone is out of here come the summer, as (unlike recent managers/Head Coaches) Neil Warnock has 'a plan' and that includes getting in players who can do the job on a consistent basis rather than having to be jump started every time it gets cold outside! :ayatollah:
