CITY’S travelling army will have a huge role in the climax to League One.

A full house of just over 2,000 will be at Glanford Park on Sunday to roar on Stuart McCall’s men for the TV game against Scunthorpe.

And James Mason reckons the sold-out signs will be posted on the away end for all of the remaining road games.

Chief operating officer Mason said: “Our fans have a really crucial part to play in how the final table will look.

“We might be the only club in our division who will sell out our remaining away fixtures.

“Scunthorpe and Bury definitely, at Sheffield United we could have sold tripple the paltry 2,000 allocation they’ve given us and Rochdale we will take anything up to 3,500-4,000 for what could be a massive game.

“While we are on TV on Sunday, we want to show every football fan in the country how big a concern we are now.

“We want the television sets up and down the country vibrating from the noise coming from the away end.

“We want to tell the rest of League One that our fans are coming in huge numbers.”

Mason believes last week’s late, late show against Swindon showed the power of the City public as City snatched a last-gap victory with two goals in front of the Kop.

He added: “Let’s not underestimate how the fans can help to instigate the result.

“We put a message to ‘be the difference’ on the scoreboard and, guess what, they were when we scored two late goals that we don’t do normally.

“If we’re 1-0 down or it’s 1-1 at Scunthorpe, the louder they sing and the more intimidating they are, the more chance we’ve got of winning.

“There won’t be many teams in this division, bar Sheffield United, who boast our away followings.

“By the end of season, I estimate that out of 23 away games we would have sold out at least ten of those which is phenomenal.

“Apart from the “super” clubs in the country, such as Newcastle and the top Premier League sides, there won’t be many who can boast that statistic.”
