PREMIER LEAGUE 'FREE AGENTS' THIS SUMMER

Tue Mar 28, 2017 10:35 am

As the summer nears and contracts come to an end, should the club have an interest in any of the following free transfers from Premier League oppositions?
From Vital Football

Current 'Free Agent' lists have been well publicised the last few weeks, so with the caveat of not believing any of these have signed new deals, announced their retirement or already pre contracted themselves to anybody else (discussions may well be underway though), are there any you'd like to line up in the shirt for the 2017/18 campaign?

Some young potentials for the future - experienced internationals maybe ready for one final challenge?

There are certainly plenty of recognisable names - but of course (like Zlatan) they come with financial commitments even as free transfers.

Or alternatively are there any you would avoid with somebody else's bargepole!

I wouldn't mind John Terry, Yaya Toure and Zlatan Ibrahimovic as understudy to Zohore

I hadn't actually seen that, Wez

But the author does say that some of those named may have re-signed or completed pre-contract agreements with lesser clubs than Cardiff City FC

I can only assume Zlatan had been tipped the wink that he would only serve as back-up to the mighty Kenneth Zohore in Neil Warnock's plans ;) :laughing6: :laughing6:

Martin Kelly would be a decent shout.
Cuco Martina can play RB and CDM - wages should be low.
Hennessey would be a brilliant capture but wages might be a problem.
Stab at Stephen Ireland?
Wages seem to be a huge problems when looking at that list

Stephen Ireland a good call, as I think Warnock could sort him and his attitude out!

Still recovering from a very bad leg break. He has a great attitude these days, Stoke fans were just warming to him when he broke his leg. Fit as a fiddle (minus the broken hone).

Would certainly take Campbell back on a free Transfer him and Zahore would compliment each other perfectly IMO.

Those saying Ireland he used to be a very good player and hasn't played in nearly a year after breaking his leg certainly not someone I would be taking a risk on. I'd certainly take Andrew Surman on a free though wages dependent.

I didn't know that, so I stand corrected

Hennessy (if he was on super cheap on wages),
Callam Jones
Isgrove
Parfitt-Williams
Solanke

All young enough and I think they'd add quality.

There are a few keepers on that list - As this was 1 position we need filled, along with outfield players ;)

Re: PREMIER LEAGUE 'FREE AGENTS' THIS SUMMER

I'd spend heavy on a top class number one interns of wages and then pick out the best of the rest who can't break into their current sides - Solanke has had a great youth career but can't get in a money laden Chelsea side for instance, isgrove looked promising playing for Wales seniors and I've heard relitvely good things about Callam Jones - to sign players over the hill with nothing to prove would be a waste of time, we need potential in this league not legends

Whats the deal with Will Buckley, i thought he was decent.

Conor McAleny may be a bit light weight for our Neil.

Few on that list we could go for.
Also got a feeling two of those keepers are being monitored

By the middle of July I expect all those players and many more will be on their way here. According to those itk on this forum, virtually every player in Britain was on his way here last Summer. ;)

I woudnt go for Hennessy
He didn't look very confident against Ireland
He's never been the same since his injury
Charlie Adam could be a good shout
Good hard tackler
Excellent with free kicks and playing l
Alongside Gunners could just work
It's going to be an interesting close season and I woudnt be surprised
if Warnock signs players we never even thought about
Can't wait for next season I see it as a very different season to what we have been used to seeing for the last 3 years.

Free agents of this level often come with demands for personal fees on top of high wages and bonuses.

However, if the price is right and the wages can be covered, happy days!

Defo worth enquiring about couple keepers. Also think leadbitter, Adams or Sebastian Larson would make good addition to midfield. Mccauley at Wba also good season would be great in this league.

Quite surprised Jeff Reine-Adelaide is on route to becoming a free agent, basically all the arsenal fans I know who have good knowledge of arsenals youth system have said he's a extremely promising player, I think he played a few first team games also so I'd say he'd be a good addition, believe he's a attacking midfielder I believe if not please correct me but if so isn't that a kind of player we're lacking
