Well that's the conspiracy theorists opinion, but she openly said in her statement there will be no 2nd referendum? Is she daft enough to go back on her word after saying it so openly?
Not really a conspiracy theorists opinion, just plain observation. She said this morning that there was consensus in the electorate but not in Westminster which is a very poorly coded term for there is no consencus in the Tory party.Obviously she wouldn't give one if the Liberals or the Labour Party were in disarray but it is a chance to silence her critics in her own party and the SNP.
Yes she had a big dig at all the parties Inc house lords who are wanting to delay brexit! That's when she categorically said brexit will happen, this election means won't need one during brexit negotiations which can only be good.
Providing she gets the result. One of the biggest calls ever The Brexiteers will have to get the battle bus back out thought it'll need a paint job as I don't think the electorate will fall for the same lie twice.
Don't be too selective, fella! BOTH sides were economic with the truth pre-Brexit vote and BOTH sides have since been proven wrong in their wild predictions!
For me, it was the 'Remoaners' negative (i.e. anti-UK) assertion that the country would implode economically that has been the most embarrassing miscalculation
Well Sven you have a point thought being pedantic I could say that theres time enough for an implosion as you put it as we are not even out yet, however, the disarray of the Labour Party, the fact that the SNP issue will not go away shouldn't blind anyone to the fact that the infighting in the Tory ranks are solely responsible for todays election call.

I can see that and for the record I'm not a Tory, so it really doesn't bother me whether they implode in a similar way to the Labour Party or not. I think Theresa May is just taking advantage of an opportunity afforded her by an inept and unelectable (in Governmental terms) Labour Party and I cannot blame her for that

snap elections like this are called from percieved strength {of course it can go wrong }. but to suggest its been called due to their own party being on the verge of imploding is ludicrous tbh.

Not seeing whats staring you in the face is ludicrous.Tell me why, when a PM with a working majority and a mandate given by the country, who is on record as saying she would not call a snap election and then suddenly changes her mind is worried about..Like many have already said the Labour Party are in disarray, the SNP are an irrelevance and the LibDems are nowhere. So with no credible opposition whats her problem.

Thought the NHS and education were devolved quite a while back. Think you will find they are controlled from Cardiff Bay by a first minister who is not a Conservative.

Some good points here. Most others on here are spouting the usual same old.....same old".
Unfortunately however Labour is badly split and they (almost as much as the horrendously biased money driven media) will result in a heavy defeat. The MAJOR (no pun intended) failings in Tory policy will bwe glossed over. also Corbyn does not help himself by his views on defence and immigration. Also in my mind Labour did too little to persuade ordinary people the we should stay in Europe and change it from within. It means that people like myself are in a quandry.
It would be ridiculous to support the Conservatives who, as usual, are protecting the wealthy and claiming to be on the side of all.
In any event I could never betray my roots both parents hard working Working class from Cardiff
At present the labour party does not deserve my vote, the Plaid Cymru leader is weak and uninspiring.I am almost tempted to vote Green!
I will wait till nearer the election to decide.
If the Tories get in with a big majority - we'll get hard-line Brexit and right wing poli ies in the UK- then someone needs to start a thread at that time. It will shocking how views will have changed!! However that would give me no pleasure because of the many lives that will be very badly affected in the interim.

Did I say that?
You need to read my post again...s l o w l y! LOL

Or that we should continue with austerity because there's no money so we have to cut all public services, causing untold misery to local communities and even deaths to disabled people (also being investigated by the UN), but let off large corporations paying their tax, because well, you know they are large corporations aren't they. Then simple, let's have more of that and keep the Tories in power. Another option is to ignore the majority of the horrendously biased media and look at the policies of Corbyn and vote to have a very much needed change. June 8th. Thank you in advance. Never a dull moment.
Anything less than a 140 majority that is being spouted in The Sun, The Daily Mail, Sky News, BBC News, and many more will be considered a failure for the Tories. I refuse to debate, just like Maggie May refuses to debate on Unscripted TV.
My family are also of working class stock but that does not mean that I would blindly vote labour like some people. At present the Tories are the only party that seem as one, in most respects. Labour are a joke and have been since Blair (I voted for him). All the others can promise the world, particularly as they know they will never be in power.
"Hard Brexit" - what does that mean? As a country we need to show the EU that they need us as much as we need them and I am sure that a great deal of the scaremongering will just be that.
Time will tell.
