Merkel lands Brexit victory for Brussels
Angela Merkel convinced Donald Trump that negotiating a US-EU trade deal would be simpler than he thought. Britain has been pushed behind the European Union in the queue to strike a free-trade deal with the United States, officials in Washington have said.
President Trump has softened his opposition to negotiating with the bloc as a whole after attempts by his officials to open talks with individual European nations were rebuffed.
During a private conversation last month, Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, convinced Mr Trump that talks on a US-EU deal would be simpler than he thought, sources close to both sides of the discussion told The Times. Boris Johnson met with Paul Ryan, the Republican House speaker, who had hinted that the TTIP trade deal with the EU may be revived.
This led to a “realisation” in the Trump administration that a trade deal with the EU — allowing the tariff-free exchange of goods and services — was more important to US interests than a post-Brexit deal with Theresa May & the U.K.

Who would you rather Trade with, a Union of 752million, or a Union of 72 million? While the EU fails on main things, it does not fail on Trade. Feels as though we've cut off all our limbs before a triathalon hoping someone will drag U she across the line.

And you believe trump? EU may have 752m people but You forget members can veto things, it's far easier dealing with one rather than group of countries! Wonder how long before his stance changes again just like several of his pre election plans.

Do you really think we are in a better position now with just Us, rather than being in the worlds biggest collective Union? Come on. There's been so many U Turns in Mays government, I don't think anyone can criticise trump for it.

So has May otherwise we wouldn't be having this election. As for Trump the presidency will make a politician out of him yet but only a politically blind fool would believe little ole GB would a more profitable trading option than the EU block.Someone said the other day that the Tories want this election before the economic realities of Brexit step in.Everybody thinks the election is a foregone conclusion but 3 day into the campaign and I'm not so sure.

Mrs. May isn't exactly getting off to a good start to the General Election. Totally embarrassed by Yvette Cooper at PM's questions and now this. As Labour's election saying goes "June always signals the end of May"
