CARDIFF CITY DVP 0 V BRISTOL CITY DVP 2

Cardiff City DVP slump to a home defeat to Bristol City's DVP.

That means Craig Bellamy's DVP team have only won 2 games from their last 13 games and not won a game in their last five matches.

Full Time: Cardiff City 0-2 Bristol City

A tough night at the office for the Cardiff City development side.

In the first half, they couldn’t really get things going in the final third and Bristol City had more of the play.

They created a bit more in the second period but weren’t able to take advantage of the chances they had.

It’s worth taking into account that the Bluebirds had five under-18s in the side tonight and they did look a little more lightweight than their opponents.

Midfielder and captain Jamie Veale was the pick of the young Bluebirds, distributing well, assured on the ball and not afraid to receive the ball under pressure.

The game opened up more in the second half and despite Cardiff getting a little closer to goal, it was the Robins who extended their lead. The home side were possibly worthy of a goal but no-one could deny that the Robins deserved the victory here tonight. They take home the youth Severnside derby bragging rights,

Half Time: Cardiff City 0-1 Bristol City

Cardiff just unable to cause problems at the moment.

Bristol are well organised and have only really looked stretched on one occasion.

I don’t recall Sesay in the Bristol City goal making a single safe or even taking a goal kick.

Captain Jamie Veale has looked the best of the young Bluebirds.

Calm and assured in possession and showed a bit of quality to flick the ball in behind for Spence to chase down.

The scoreline probably reflects the first half well and Bristol deservedly lead.

The second half is underway here, as the #Bluebirds look to turn it around against @bcfctweets (0-1)

Craig Bellamy DVP team need a win after only two wins in their last 12 games.

Bristol City continuing as they did the first-half doing all the attacking.

He gets it slightly wrong but it looks like it might creep into the far corner.

It beats a scrambling Ratcliffe but hits the post.

Cardiff go up the other end and Coxe is in behind, he slides it beyond Sesay but it goes wide of the post too.

Big chance for the under-19's winger there.

Jordan Blaise is coming on for Lloyd Humphries.

The game has gone a bit scrappy in the last few minutes.

A few misplaced passes from both teams and the odd mistimed run.

Most of the play has been in the Cardiff half, though Ratcliffe is yet to make a save.

Goal Bristol City! 0-2

De Girolamo finishes emphatically to double the visitors’ lead.

Bristol break as Cardiff push forward to find a goal.

Dowling has Smith steaming up on his outside and the winger gets it and fires at goal from the left side of the box.

He looks to go across the keeper but drags it wide of the far post.

Unfortunately, post January, since Bellamy has come in, we have lost the core of the development team, as majority have either been sold or released.

This is a completely new team, some of which are even making a big step up into the development squad.

Sounds like Bellars has a lot of work to do, or a lot of new talent to find

Gareth, Bellamy is the man in total charge of the DVP and decides everything.

To be honest next season Bellamy will be judged on the DVP team and under as, as you say this season its all been totally torn apart.

There was a few youngsters from the U18s in the Team last night and it showed...Bristol were a good, slick Organised side and, City couldn't get near them in the first half. Though at 1:0, I thought City were the fitter side and Bristol were there for the taking. Cardiff were unable to penetrate a solid Bristol defence.

A few Cardiff players looked as if they could hold their own and step up to the first team.

Veale looked the pick of them. Bossed the midfield.

Coxe is a defender but played up front. Not as effective playing out of position.

Spence looks a smooth controlled player for someone who isn't 18 yet. Confitend in finding space and never once gave the ball away. Needs to be nurtured.

Veale
Coxe
Spence

These three look like they can step into the first team. And I would like Warnock to give them a chance before the end of the season. If not now then next season.
