Gareth Bale's new Cardiff sports bar has opened its doors to the public.

The Welshman continues to hit the heights at Real Madrid but hasn't forgotten his roots.

And he has now launched Elevens bar and it promises to be a cracking venue for the people of the Welsh capital.

Filled with sporting memorabilia from the world of football, rugby, basketball and golf, and enough TV screens for everyone to watch the action, Elevens has transformed a former pub into a modern bar and grill with a food and drinks menu bursting with choice, reports Wales Online.

From traditional ales like SA Gold and Rev James to (relatively) new kids on the block Brooklyn Lager and Barry Island IPA, Elevens even has its own golden ale created by the Real Madrid star himself, Bale Ale.


The food menu is packed with beef burgers - made with Welsh beef - pizza, steaks and snacks.

The Elevens Burger comes with smoked bacon, smashed avocado, Swiss cheese, tomato jam and chimichurri, while the Elevens pizza has pepperoni, smoked bacon, grilled chicken and mushrooms on top.

For those who fancy a nibble there are small treats like sausage rolls, nachos and crispy courgette fries on offer at the bar.


But it's not all about the ales and food - the drinks menu also has a range of cocktails including Aperol Spritz, Elevens Sour and the Bramble and a decent wine list.

In a message to customers on the menu, Whitchurch-native Bale says: "It's been a dream of mine to open a sports bar in my home town of Cardiff.

"Together with Brains we have created something very special and unique: a premium sports bar and grill in the heart of Cardiff."

The first floor has been turned into a mezzanine with a balcony looking over the downstairs bar and there is plenty of seating for diners, drinkers and sports fans alike.

Elevens will be open from 11am-1am on Fridays and Saturdays and 11am -midnight Sunday to Thursday.

Good luck to them, I won't be calling in. It looks like a boring generic restaurant, ok if you've got little kids maybe-pop in for a Burger and a look at the shirts.

Agree doesn't look a comfortable place to have few beers

Hideous themed restaurant..souless , they have knocked all the best Cardiff Pubs down or transformed into ghastly dumps.

Me too! It's a brains pub with Bales trimmings, a good sports bar is what Cardiff needs and what a fantastic location!

Was better as Dempseys, should've left it as is and done this elsewhere, for example round the Hayes with the other soulless chains
