BLACKBURN OWNERS BACK MOWBRAY

Sky Sports

09/05/17

The owners of Blackburn Rovers have released a statement to back manager Tony Mowbray following the club's relegation from the Sky Bet Championship.

It said: "The Owners of Blackburn Rovers wish to place on record their appreciation for the work of manager Tony Mowbray since his arrival at the club, during which time both the performances of the team and results have improved significantly. Going forward he will continue to have our full support.

"Despite the courageous performance by the players and the victory at Brentford yesterday, results elsewhere led to the relegation of the club from the Championship. This is indeed a very sad situation and we are deeply hurt by these events. We share the same feelings as our supporters.

"Notwithstanding this temporary setback, we are confident that the collective efforts of the team, under Tony’s leadership, will enable the club to achieve promotion back to the Championship next season."

Mowbray is a strange one. I was very impressed with the West Brom team he built a few years back but he's also managed some absolute shambles. He seems completely devoid of personality but he's obviously got the Blackburn players fighting. They'd be mad to sack him now after the way they ended the season. A couple of the right signings and they should come straight back up. As we all know though, it's the owners that are the problem there.

Tony Mowbray is on a hiding to nothing working for the Venky's :(

There was an interesting piece on TalkSport yesterday that alluded to the fact that Blackburn's owner has NEVER been to Ewood Park and had bought the club as a piece of 'bling' to be shown off within their own circles

But when dissected, their ownership is a mixed one, as there is no doubt that (despite reports to the contrary) they have ploughed an awful lot of money into the club; particularly for a club outside of the Premier League

It seems a lack of 'football nouse' in the first season (when they were relegated from the Premier League) meant that they then threw a stack of money looking for a quick return, only to see it go up in smoke as successive managers only made the situation worse and now thy are paying the heavy price of relegation to League One

Sounds all too familiar in many ways, but at least our overseas owner has 'seen the light' and is in the process of reversing his initial lack of football nouse and is slowly but surely putting us back on an even keel...

Just goes to show that for us it could have worked out a lot worse! ;) :ayatollah:

It was an interesting listen on Radio Notts before the games Sunday. Obviously they were talking about Forests chances but the speakers diverted onto the owners of the 3 clubs that were fighting the religation Forest themselves, Blackburn and Birmingham. All 3 have controversial owners who seem to sack instead of give the managers a chance to build. They all concluded that foreign ownership is bad for football. Had to agree with them.
