Re: ' Poll ' Who you voting for in the General election?

Conservative for me. Corbyn is unelectable, moved out of Blaenau Gwent years ago got fed up of living in a one party state, at least vote means something now.

The conservatives are offering you a trip to the dentist whilst labour are offering you a trip to Alton Towers. But what you really need is a filling.

Summed it up perfectly for me.

Can't believe I'm reading that Welsh people are voting Tory. Insanity. You're literally voting for a party that doesn't give a shit about you.

Can't believe anyone would be stupid enough to entrust the security of our country in the hands of terrorist supporters. The very people who want to completely destroy our way of life are the ones Corbyn and co cosy up to. Squawk fake news or right wing propaganda all you like but the facts are there for all but the most bigoted, ignorant or idiotic to see.

Good idea, tax businesses to the hilt. That will hit their profits of course. What will they do about that? Simple, reduce their staff, people like us on this forum. That is helping the ordinary man in the street who instead of contributing taxes will be claiming benefits. Hit the businesses hard so that their share prices go down. Pension funds are invested in our big profitable companies, so that will do the ordinary working man good as his pension pot goes down, but not to worry he can just keep working until he's 75. Easy to say hit the big companies hard. It won't be them who will suffer, it will be the ordinary working man just as it always is. It is all very well saying hit our businesses with more tax, you need to remember that it is these businesses who are providing a weekly wage for millions of ordinary people, the working man in the street.

I will be voting Conservative, although I realise that here in Wales we will have another Labour Assembly for 5 more years, and probably well beyond. If Labour win I will be disappointed, but we live in a democracy and I will accept the decision of the majority, congratulate them and get on with my life. I would like to think that is the difference between me and some of those remoaners who still refuse to accept the result of a democratic vote. All this nonsense about us not being told the whole truth, does anyone honestly believe that whoever wins tomorrow will have told us nothing but the truth. Be interesting to see if supporters of the losing party call for another election based on the fact we do not know what we have done and have been lied to again.

yes its often people who have invested everything they have and infact often also borrowed of relatives to launch their business. then after working their nuts off often for far less than minimum wage ,if their idea was good.AND they have plenty of luck the business begins to grow. they start to employ, and yes the employees are expected to work hard..these employees invested nothing..risked nothing..have entitlements {at least min wage..holiday pay. a max hour working week } that the person that started the business never had.
so yes tax the horrible c**t who gave a village with large unemployment who now employs maybe a couple of hundred to the hilt...and make damn sure nobody in the neighbouring village gets it in their head to copy them and become well off.
socialist = people that think the world owes them a living..and also think that the person that is actually giving them a living needs punishing..

thanks...must add.
i know a lot of people who have pretty decent houses ,lifestyles and pensions who wouldnt if not for the initial hard work of others { others being their employer }.
this them and us is more than a bit pathetic. i know lots of really decent employers that dont deserve this crap off people that wouldnt have the bottle to try to do better themselves , and who cant figure out that no employers = no jobs.

I voted Labour but more for our current MP in Caerphilly who has been doing a decent job for the last 15 or so years rather than blind support for Corbyn. Having said that I think that JC has made a better fist of this election campaign than TM and the Tory Party ever thought possible, but it won't be enough Why? because in my opinion he will never get past his history of apparent support for IRA, Hamas and of course his deeply held conviction of nuclear disarmament.

So I expect a Tory victory by anything between 1 and 100 seats and like you I will accept it and get on with my life. For the next 5 years experience tells me to expect to get shafted, with my trousers on, on a regular basis, the only difference with Labour is they would likely give me the option to drop my trousers before the shafting begins.

In my lifetime I think the choice of Leaders has been the weakest of any election I can remember and, like the film "Brewsters Milllions" if there was an option for "None Of The Above" I would have put my X in the box.

Agree with you 100%.We will get shafted one way or another by whoever wins. One party will take something from us, another will take something else. The net result will be the roughly the same, we will survive for another 5 years in exactly the same way we always do, and in 2022 we will all be complaining about the police, NHS, education, welfare etc., just as we always do at every single election.

I suggested here a few weeks back that it was worth having a bet on Labour who were 20/1 at the time. I put a tenner on them even earlier at 25/1. You can still get 10/1 on them this morning, has to be worth a gamble in a two horse race. Remember Brexit.

Wow get defensive much when I just said businesses should pay their FAIR SHARE!!
Not extra.... and not 'taxed to the hilt'. Corbyn has said he'll give tax relief to small businesses (turnover under 500k).
There are ethical businesses about, of course, but there are also too many large corporations paying their staff the absolute minimum and offering no job security when they could easily afford to. Tesco is a good example...

I can see why small businesses are getting their knickers in a knot about paying a higher minimum wage but under Corbyn these businesses will be protected.

Everyone saying I'm just jealous of others success can suck my left nut. None of you would stand in solidarity with Cardiff's taxi drivers against the rule dodging Ubers coming in from outside the area to take work from our own licenced drivers. Tbh I hope a big corporation comes in and shits all over your business, we'll see who's the socialist then!

I admire anyone who starts their own business and good luck to them.

However, they are still expected to pay their fair share in taxes and at the rate of 26% it is lower than most countries in the G7 and the Euro Zone.

Get things into perspective Corporation Tax would be 26% that leaves 74% of profits in the pocket of the entrepreneur. What I would like to know is why 26% is not considered a 'fair share' when Corporation Tax is higher in other EU/G7 countries?

At the end of the day 74% of profits would still give most business people a very comfortable lifestyle one 100 times better than employees on the minimum wage who have also contributed to the success of the business.

Ireland's corporation tax is 12.5%!!

Could lose some companies to them.

so yes tax the horrible c**t who gave a village with large unemployment who now employs maybe a couple of hundred to the hilt...and make damn sure nobody in the neighbouring village gets it in their head to copy them and become well off.
socialist = people that think the world owes them a living..and also think that the person that is actually giving them a living needs punishing..

Unfortunately corporation tax is just one of the tax schemes that businesses have to pay. That is a tax based on profits, they are paying other taxes and the likes of VAT, business rates etc., all have to be added to their costs. National Insurance may not have the word tax in it, but we all know that is really what it is. Tax for businesses is a complicated affair, and has been responsible for many a sole trader deciding being self employed is not always worth it.
