'LAMBERT UNLIKELY TO CONTINUE AS WOLVES BOSS'

16/05/17

Sky sources have told us that Paul Lambert is unlikely to continue as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers next season, because of disagreements over the club's transfer policy.

It's understood Lambert is keen to continue in the role that he took over 6 months ago, and is refusing to resign; but he isn't happy with the role agent Jorge Mendes has in terms of recruitment. Mendes has a close relationship with Wolves' Chinese owners, Fosun, and brought a number of players to the club last season.

Helder Costa was one of those - he was Wolves' player of the season, but Lambert has voiced his frustrations at the lack of quality he feels is a feature of a number of other signings made with Mendes' guidance.

It's thought Wolves' owners have now lost faith in Lambert, whose side won two of their last seven Championship matches, and they are considering other managers to replace him.

absolutely insane how agents have in some cases become more powerful than managers.
