Neil Warnocks holds 'face to face' talks with Hearts right back over proposed Cardiff City move — reports
Callum Paterson is a highly rated full-back who is also on Rangers' radar
Neil Warnock has held face-to-face talks in Cardiff with Hearts full back Callum Paterson, according to reports.
The Cardiff City boss has made no secret about his desire to strengthen his squad this summer, with 22-year-old full back Paterson linked with the Bluebirds back in April.
Rangers were thought to be favourites to land Paterson's signature, but an agency in Scotland is now reporting that Cardiff are close to sealing a bosman deal.
Capital City Press reports Cardiff have met with Paterson ahead of a summer move. He'd previously been subject to January interest from the Bluebirds and failed bids from Wigan Athletic last summer.
Cardiff would still have to pay Hearts compensation for the full back, who has been out since December with a cruciate ligament injury, but whose contract expires on May 31.
Paterson is an attacking right-back
He last played for Hearts on December 27 but had previously scored nine goals in 22 games for the Gorgie club in the first half of the campaign.
Paterson can also play on the right wing and could add much-needed depth to Warnock's squad if he makes the move to Cardiff City Stadium.

Seems a bit strange because he's a right back.
But when you consider he's 22 and on a free it might make sense. If he's worth a couple of mill in the next year or two then we can sell him on and it's business well done. This is business sense that warnock has that our past managers lacked.

Why would we have to pay compensation? Wouldn't we be exempt from paying compensation similar to the way Celtic didn't have to pay a penny to us for Joe Ledley?

apparently the compensation is around 400k so could be a investment or warnock might sell someone and this will be their replacement

who has been out since December with a cruciate ligament injury... WOW just WOW can you imagine the flack if , say Ole or Trollope had bought a crocked player.

very young tho jules and that means he should come back stronger but i understand your statement and your right but warnock has forgotten more than they know about football management
