Cardiff City will continue their search for firepower this summer in the hope of adding support for striker Kenneth Zohore.

But there is one forward the Bluebirds must not forget, and he's currently work hard to recover from a horrific injury.

Rhys Healey was sidelined for nine months when he tore both his anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments during the Bluebirds' 5-0 rout of Rotherham in February.

It was a cruel injury for the blossoming striker who boss Neil Warnock greatly admires.

A Cardiff statement in February read: "We regret, we can confirm that Rhys Healey has torn his anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments.

"Rhys will undergo surgery in the near future, before a process of rehabilitation will take place over a nine month period."

The 22-year-old frontman, who spent the first half of the season on loan at Newport County, had just begun to make an impression in the first team at Cardiff City Stadium.

He hit a late winner on debut against Burton Albion and followed that with a string of impressive displays — before injury cut his season short.

Healey was inundated with messages of goodwill from Cardiff fans and players, and underwent surgery in mid-March in the hope of a return to action before 2017 was out.

And the Manchester-born striker is keeping fans updates on his social media accounts, revealing he'd been working at England national team training base St George's Park as part of his recovery. The striker has been working strenuously on a training bike and in a heat chamber to aid recovery.

Healey isn't expected to take part in Cardiff's pre-season activity, as the Bluebirds embark on a tour around Devon and Cornwall.

His return is scheduled for November at the earliest but Warnock will be eager to see the industrious forward back in action as soon as possible.

Sooner he's back the better, I was impressed when he came into the first team. Seemed like a quicker stronger Joe mason.
