Lee Peltier admits Championship play-offs have to be the aim for Cardiff City next season

The defender has also said Neil Warnock's efforts last season convinced him to sign a new contract with the club

Lee Peltier admits he will be disappointed if Cardiff City aren't challenging for a place in the Championshio play-offs next season.

Neil Warnock has repeatedly stressed his desire to fire the Bluebirds into the promised land of the Premier League and has already started to strengthen his squad ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.

Star striker Kenneth Zohore signed a new deal with the club in April while the Yorkshireman has already recruited goalkeeper Neil Etheridge from Walsall and winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing from Rotherham.

And the club today announced that Peltier has put pen to paper on a one-year contract extension, with wideman Junior Hoilett also agreeing a one-year deal to remain with the Bluebirds for next season.

But Peltier - who moved to south Wales from Huddersfield in 2015 - admits he would be bitterly disappointed if Cardiff weren't battling it out at the higher end of the Championship table next season.

"You can see what he (Warnock) has done since he came in and he wants to have a good go at it next season," he told Cardiff City Player .

"That was a massive influence on me putting pen to paper to stay longer because I’ve bought in to what he wants to do and hopefully it works.

"I’m definitely looking forward to getting going again.

"I’d be disappointed if we’re not up there contending with the play-offs, I think towards the back end of last season you could see what we’re about and we’re not that far off.

"He’s going to add a few more players to the squad that will improve us so it should be a good season.

"We’re looking forward to get stuck into pre-season, I was out for the second-half of the season and missed a lot of games so I’m looking forward to getting going again. Ive enjoyed my time up to now and hopefully enjoy it even more next season."

Love Pelts, love his attitude and commitment, and love how Warnock is getting his ethos and message across to the squad.

In City we trust :bluescarf:
