'Cardiff City have got themselves the bargain of the summer' — Social media reaction on Callum Paterson

Tuesday 7th June 2017

Cardiff City fans have reacted to the news the club have signed Callum Paterson with overwhelming positivity.

Some supporters were split after the Bluebirds unveiled the double signing of Neil Etheridge and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing last week.

But the five-cap Scotland international has proven a very popular acquisition. His record for former club Hearts, for whom he scored nine goals in just 21 appearances last season, has caused excitement among the Cardiff fan base.

There is already debate about where Paterson will fit into the Cardiff system, with the versatile 22-year-old able to play at right-back, on the wing, or even as a striker.

There was palpable excitement among Bluebirds fans as the club announced his signature and this is how fans on social media reacted to the news...

The Scottish fan reaction

One Hearts fan believed Cardiff had signed the "bargain of the summer" as Jam Tarts fans said their farewells to the full-back on Twitter. Another said he would an "utterly superb free signing."

And the former players...
