" THIS FRIDAY/CARDIFF CITY "

The League Cup has been re-branded the Carabao Cup and the first round draw will take place in Bangkok.

And to make the bizarre event weirder, former and Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit will be drawing the balls in Thailand.

The 70 teams from the Championship, League One and League Two will find out their fate on Friday for the previously named EFL Cup.

Newly relegated Hull, Middlesbrough and Sunderland will be seeded in the competition.

Manchester United won the tournament last season as they beat Southampton 3-2 at Wembley.

Jose Mourinho's men will start their defence in the third round - after getting a second round bye due to their Champions League commitments.

"The newly named Carabao Cup offers a significant opportunity for the Thai brand to engage with football fans via its association with one of the biggest football competitions in the country, and Carabao plans to bring this partnership to life at every opportunity for customers and consumers.

Carabao is a Thai energy drink which also sponsors Chelsea and Reading.

United won 3-2 not 2-1 and I thought for a second the games take place in Bangkok.

So we can only draw teams in the South?
