Looks like the referee gave a penalty, then referred it to his video referee who then suggested a penalty and a red card for Varane - the French defender.
Seems to me having video referees won't change an awful lot, and we'll still have plenty of debates about the decisions.

The French player certainly touched him with his leg wether it was intentional or not is open to debate but it's a pen and as it's stopped goalscoring opportunity as to be red card! Didn't see any of players disputing decision either .

The rules were changed this season for the double punishment of a penalty and red card to be wiped out if it's not a professional foul. It should have just been a penalty.
