Middlesbrough's Stewart Downing has been told he doesn't feature in new manager Garry Monk's plans and he can leave the club, say Sky sources.
The 32-year-old winger, who made 35 appearances for England between 2005-2014, will be keen to find new employers with the new season just a few weeks away.
Downing made 249 appearances for Boro in two spells at the club. He re-joined his boyhood club in July 2015 from West Ham in a four-year deal for a reported £5.5m.
Monk was confirmed as the new Boro boss on a three-year contract after chairman Steve Gibson held formal interviews with him and former Leicester manager Nigel Pearson.
Middlesbrough will be targeting an immediate return to the Premier League after their relegation last season.
