John Terry is considering an offer from Championship side Aston Villa, but the 36-year-old expects rival interest from Premier League sides as he prepares to leave Chelsea.

Former Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood thinks leaders are needed at Villa Park and that John Terry would be the perfect addition.

Sherwood told Sky Sports News HQ: “I think it’s a good move for John and a good move for Villa.

“John’s an excellent professional, not only in what he gives you on the pitch but also what he’s going to give you around the dressing room. He will make other players around him better.

“They need some leaders there and there’s no bigger leader than John Terry. Every club needs those sorts of characters and certainly a huge club like Villa with the fan base they’ve got. John won’t feel like he’s going to a smaller club.”
