Ex Cardiff City/Newport County player will join Northampton on loan from Manchester United

Manchester United defender Regan Poole(Cardiff born) will join Northampton Town on loan for the duration of the 2017/18 season.

Poole joined United from Newport County, where he broke into the first team under current Northampton manager Justin Edinburgh, in September 2015.

He has made just one senior appearance since moving to Old Trafford, as a late substitute in the 5-1 Europa League win over FC Midtjylland on February 25, 2016.

Cardiff City manager Russell Slade has admitted the club made a mistake in releasing Wales prospect Regan Poole.

Poole, 17, made his debut for Manchester United in their 5-1 Europa League victory over Midtjylland.

He joined United in September, after just 17 appearances for Newport County, who signed him when he was released by Cardiff City's academy in 2012.

FORMER Newport County AFC defender Regan Poole has been named in the Wales squad for this summer's Toulon Tournament.

The 2017 Toulon Tournament will be the 45th edition of the prestigious under-20 event and will take place between May 29 and June 10.

The 2017 edition will be the first to feature 12 teams and the first to feature Wales.
