'City fans to be moved for Villa fixture.

Cardiff City will allow Aston Villa to bring up to 5,000 supporters to South Wales when the two teams meet on August 12th.

The Bluebirds have issued some home supporters with a letter to inform them they will be seated elsewhere in the ground if Aston Villa take up the full allocation as expected.

Aston Villa brought more than 3,000 to the Cardiff City Stadium when they were defeated 1-0 in January last season.

And Cardiff will allow an increased allocation this season in a bid to maximise the atmosphere for their first home fixture of the campaign.

Some supporters in the Family section of the ground will be moved to part of the largely unused new section of the Ninian Stand.

Fans will be relocated to the middle tier of the Ninian Stand, as well as the Grandstand.

But it’s not the first time the Bluebirds have asked home supporters to give up their seats – Newcastle United were given a similar allocation in the last fixture at the Cardiff City Stadium during the last campaign.

The majority of supporters were on board with the move last season, but it remains to be seen whether they will support it again for the first home game of the season, against the league favourites.

Neil Warnock’s men will have their work cut out to defeat Steve Bruce’s men in August, and some supporters may argue allowing up to 5,000 away supporters won’t help their case.

However, the extra supporters will undoubtedly create a special atmosphere, as they did in the Bluebirds’ 1-0 win against Aston Villa last season.

And many supporters will be thrilled to see the ground house a large capacity with packed crowds mainly coming through the international fixtures in recent years.

The statement provided to those supporters who will be moved was as follows;

“The demand for away tickets for this fixture has greatly exceeded the capacity in our normal away section.

“Discussions have therefore been held with the Safety Advisory Group and South Wales Police and it has been decided to attempt to satisfy the demand for traveling supporters by potentially increasing the away ticket allocation from 2,200 to c5,000.

“This increase will be achieved by extending the away section into blocks 123, 124 & (part of) 125 of the Family Stand and we apologise that this contingency may result in possible relocation for the fixture.

“Season ticket holders who are displaced from their normal Family Stand seats will be relocated in adjacent blocks or in excellent seats in Level 4 of the Ninian Stand.”

Why don't we just move the away end to the upper Ninian stand. That holds 5,000 and it would mean they wouldn't need to move anyone from the family stand.

I find it really frustrating we bend over backwards for other clubs but we never get the same for our away fans!

However saying all that. The increase in revenue is a plus and the atmosphere should be much better.

If they moved away end to upper Ninian there would be no segregation outside the stadium.

I could totally understand when we did this against Newcastle last season to raise a few extra quid with nothing on the line for us but think this is a terrible idea at this stage in the season. Raising a few grand extra is hardly worth the boost this would give villa surely,

Fine as long as they offer us 5000 tickets for the return fixture.
And the same price.

I can't understand why we don't put away fans either above in or below the red stand?! Would cover it up for sure and look fairly decent for TV and attractive for away supporters thinking of coming to the CCS

That's true and is open to aggro which club does not want or need.
