Breaking news from the Bluebirds' base in Cornwall...

We are delighted to announce that Cardiff City FC Club Captain, Sean Morrison, has signed a new three-year deal with the Bluebirds.

The twenty-six-year old centre-half has committed to a new contract that will keep him at Cardiff City Stadium until the summer of 2020.

Having signed for City in the summer of 2014, Sean has made 120 appearances in all competitions and scored thirteen goals. He was made Club Captain in the summer of 2016.

Speaking to iFollow Cardiff City on Thursday morning, Sean said: “I’m really pleased to have got things done so quickly having spoken to the Board and the Gaffer.

“Fortunately, it’s been quite easy going – I made it clear that I wanted to stay at Cardiff City and the Gaffer told me he wanted me. I’m absolutely delighted to be here for the next three years.

“Our form towards the end of last year showed what we’re capable of as a team and hopefully we can take that straight into the new season.”

Neil Warnock added: “You’ve got to take your hat off to Sean. He could have moved on having been made quite a lucrative offer, but he told me, ‘I don’t want to Gaffer – I think there’s something special happening here.’

“He thinks we could really do something next season and that shows great commitment to the Club and where we are right now.”

Executive Director & CEO Ken Choo commented: “It was very important that we secured Sean’s future this summer.

“He’s been an excellent captain for us so far and we’re looking forward to having him for another three years.

“We had no hesitation in extending Sean’s time with us and we see him as a key part of our future.”

The positivity beaming out of the club at the moment is brilliant

There will always be different opinions on players, I for one want Gunners tied down asap and would rather him as captain, but this is another piece of great news ! The fact that the offer he received was decent and he still wants to battle on with us, shows we are a decent club to be at and that everyone is pushing in the same direction.

See how I feel after the first 5 games mind..

I've never been his biggest fan but I think under Warnock he's thriving, he gets a few goals and is leading by example, seems to have put his off field nonsense to bed and I'm buzzing to hear he thinks something special is happening.

The club is running so well, it's fantastic to see and I can't wait for the new season ... BLUEBIRDS BLUEBIRDS

Very good defender that chips in with quite a few goals and assists, looking very positive for next season!

We don't just need one captain/leader, we need several. Morrison could have moved on for more money and has decided to stay and help this football club. I for one commend his attitude and commitment. Don't forget, if they could, several top Championship clubs would sign him.

Reminds me of Hudson a bit. It took a bit of time, "but he grows" on you.

Well either the best managers/coaches in the championship are wrong or you are as he is obviously very highly rated.

I'll back Warnock - he seems to know football

I would have taken the £3m because SM was entering the last year of his contract. Now he has signed a new deal then the obvious thing to do is to put all the speculation behind him and concentrate on the forthcoming (hopefully successful) season.

Fantastic news, people base their opinion on him off him doing a s**t on a night out and not his football ability.

Not to forget Sheffield Wed made him their top target and they didn't do too bad last year. Their thought they would get him and are now fretting over wasting time in the transfer market.

This is shaping up to be a very good season for us

There is much better in the championship than him and we wouldn't be able to replace him with the 3 or 4 million we get for him.

Plus one of our best goal scorers for past 2 seasons I'm glad we have kept him
